Default Shannons Auctions

Anyone keep up to date with these? Its interesting because you can never pick whats going to happen...take the latest sitting for example..

A Fiat 500 for $31.5k!

I remember not long ago a mint looking ZD went for ~$6k...its odd because good ZD's seem to go for more than that through other channels.

Another bargain, until its service is due, IMO is the Ferrari 400i. Ok its not the prettiest of the breed but I think its a nice looking car and would make a mint weekend cruiser..anyway..$12500!

Perhaps the VK SS at $13k was a good deal aswell..

I was always of the opinion that auctions seem to inflate prices, but I guess it comes down to who is there on the day.

Heres a link for the others..

Might be interesting to keep a running thread on prices and trends, as its always curious to look back.

I always keep an eye on the Shannons auctions and you are right, the prices are all over the place. It seems to me that most of the bargains are at the Melbourne auctions (except for that Fiat).

The Shannons descriptions are a bit misleading usually, there is an independent report on each car available a few days before the auction which is a better guide. That ZD needed quite a bit of rust work and all the Ferrari 400's lately have been a bit rough.

Agreed with the above post Allan

The Yellow Ochre ZD was far from mint!

Though i'd say at $12,500 for a Ferrari 400i is pretty damn good buying...
I'd like to see anyone find a similar car in the same pricerange (ie: euro exotic v12)... You could do worse...

Ah well I am yet to go to an auction, so I was relying on the info off the website. It must have been a 15m car then...
