if people can add there comments, ive sometimes stopped and given way to car traveling at excessive speed into a round about. but if both cars enter at the same time but the car on the right is speeding and hits the slower car, i think the speeding car is in the wrong. some may say that the slower car has pulled out in front of the car on the right, any opinions?
in this clip at 54 seconds https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZmI3iN4Djfg#t=74.840235 ,this is a good example of what im talking about. who is in the wrong? |

One of my pet hates. Once you have traffic "streaming" through a roundabout, they are next to useless.
In this instance, it is line-ball who was in the roundabout first, but the camera car made little effort to avoid the collision.

The slower car should have given way to the right regardless of speed.

It's borderline .... both seemed to enter the roundabout at the same time. So I'd class that is the maroon car not giving way to the right.
If the maroon car was already in the roundabout .... then it's the camera car's fault for not giving way to a vehicle already in the roundabout. You notice the majority of the accidents though are due to ppl not driving to the conditions though. Most of those accidents could have been avoided though if some of the driver's didn't have the "I have the right of way at all costs attitude".

The excessive speed isn't the issue, here, it's that Paris Hilton didn't give way to her right, didn't stop and look, and didn't proceed when safe to do so.BZZZT adulting fail....

NO not necessarily. There is a misconception that you must give way to the right. As you know Joel the road law states you must give way to other vehicles in the roundabout whether on your right or left. The pushbike rider who tried to pass on the left of the car also unfortunately got what he was looking for

Close call really, but I feel the Maroon car is in the wrong, she did not even look sideways, just drove into round about blind.
However the dash cam car could clearly see what was happening and had plenty of time to slow done, there is no way in the world a driver paying attention would have hit her. It usually takes two driver not paying attention to have a crash. The rules are somewhat ambiguous about this as well: Driver entering a roundabout must give way to any vehicle in the roundabout. For this rule, give way means the driver must slow down and, if necessary, stop to avoid a collision. There is no specific legislation stating one must give way to the other if entering the roundabout at the same time, only that you must give way to any vehicle already in the roundabout.

By your logic then no one should proceed through any round about, it's called defensive driving, the red car by stopping and looking, will see the cam car is going a bit fast meaning it's likely it won't stop, the cam car couldn't (and shouldn't)have given way left because he was already on the way through when the red car crossed the line and entered the roundabout. Red car made a mistake, we're all human.

He's tearing into the roundabout at speed, hoping it will intimidate the other driver into not entering. Must be a truck driver....

yeah its like the cam cars coming through so watch out! cause hes not slowing down for you. thats my point.
like i said, ive given way to speeding round about drivers to possibly save an accident. but why should i have too, if some people slowed a bit approaching it would be safer. you could call it having a bit of courtesy. |

He (cam car) hit her (red micro thing) so he will be in the wrong as he collided with a car already in the roundabout. Different story if she had run into the side of the cam car. There were also giveways signs so cam car should have slowed and proceeded with more caution. In fact both should have proceeded with more caution but if cam driver had been more cautious he could have stopped before the collision.

^ that's why you gotta go in flat bikkies, so if there's a collision its them hitting you
bit more speed and the camera car would be ok, but as it is, he's in the wrong |

The other car pulled out in front of him as he was travelling through, she never even looked sideways to see if anyone was coming. She needs to give way if someone is already coming through, she can't just drive into the round about blind hoping for the best. On top of that there is TWO lanes going into the round about, cam car is in inside lane (turn right lane) and she cuts across the outside lane without even a glance sideways to get in front of cam car already in the process of turning right.

The red car was in the roundabout first and was ahead of the camera car, which was going 57 kph, a bit too fast to go into a roundabout that has traffic in it, he should have slowed a little and given way, however she didn't even look when she pulled in, so is almost as much to blame. If one of them had been a little more careful the accident would not have happened. I think they were both incompetent idiots.
It' better to give way even if you think you don't have to than to trying prove a point by smashing into them.

If you watch they both crossed the dotted give-way line at exactly the same time. Also she does appear to look and she could equally say the cam car pulled out on her. Fact is if he (cam driver) was driving more cautiously he could have slowed even after entering the roundabout and avoided the collision. He had plenty of time to brake once he saw her entering the roundabout. Both drivers should have exercised more caution entering the roundabout.

Yeah plenty of time to brake and see that car to avoid collision. IMO the cam car is at fault.

Doesn't matter if the Cam Car was entering the roundabout at 50km/hr, red car still has to give way to all traffic on the roundabout, not just the lawful traffic.
