Default Drivers putting their washers on.

Really irks me , especially driving into the sun, when the car in front decides that their windscreen is dirty and puts their washers and wipers on when driving along. Their washer water then goes straight over their car roof onto my windscreen making it rather difficult for me to see through my now dirty windscreen.

It seems to happen too often. I must admit on one occasion I had the opportunity to return the favour.

Wish they set off on their trip better prepared, or be more considerate to the driver behind.

Is it me, or do others find it frustrating following a car which puts its washers on?

Big deal... would you rather the person in front have a greasy windscreen and then have an accident as result of sun glare on the grease?

The washers are there for a purpose...
If your windscreen gets dirty, there is nothing stoping you from using your own washers :P

I dont travel so close that their spray gets me. You can leave home with a clean screen, and it gets dirty while driving. The squirters are there for a reason. Ive always liked squirters.

I do admit that whilst parked at lights it is a bit of an irritation if someone decides to put their washers on and it shoots straight over their roof onto my car..
Call me pedantic but if I wanted water spots, I would let them be there myself without some tosser doing it for me just because they are useless and don't have their washers set correctly.

I think it's a minor thing really.

If the water suddenly solidifed and dented your car, or the water was highly acidic and burned through your car, then maybe it would matter.

Water. Harmless.

My old boss used to adjust her water jets on one side of the car to just go over the roof. At a slight angle which was enough to land on the windscreen of tail gaters. Worked a treat.

My brother washed his car recently. It's already covered in crap, due to the fact that our garage is still housing Dad's garbage and he's taking his sweet time getting rid of it.

Fact is that you can't avoid the car getting dirty.
The only way to avoid it is to chuck it in a room with a vacuum where no dust particles are present. But then you can't drive the car and enjoy it.

It's simply part of life.

What was made to be washed, was also made to get dirty.

I use to have one washer jet set to spray over the roof. Its amazing what effect it has on tailgaters...

Which brings me to my point if this is an issue for you then you are too close to the car in front.

If the jets are shooting the water over the roof of their car and getting your windscreen or bonnet, wouldn,t that mean that the jets need adjusting.I mean if you squirt and it is suppose to hit your windscreen, how do you get it to hit the person behind you, or does it have 3 different settings like the wipers.?I know when i squirt mine it hits 1/2 way on the windscreen.

Sorry, but how hard is it to put your own wipers on a wipe it away. Seriously I don't have a problem with it. I'd rather that happen than them drive with a dirty windscreen...not see something on the road and have an accident.

If you wanna get even, fill your bottle with a flamable liquid, adjust the jets to go over the car, get an ignition point and pull that sucker on. Flames over the car. That'll learn em :1syellow1

I usually give my screen a wash if someone is right up my bum and then they wash theirs and then I decide mine is still dirty and give it another go and on the highway the spray travels much further and I seem to cop it when Im not even near them and If im not in a good mood I may just overtake and return the favour :

nobody is stopping you from washing your windscreen so its fair enough everyone needs to wash their windscreens... they're there for a purpose and safety is one of them.

scenario: if an elderly driving along, a plague of locusts splatt on his windscreen and he gets low visibility and he reacted by swerving, going all over the road and accidently hit your car. who can blame him for that. he needs his washers!!!

windscreen washers are cool, stay in school...

Yes its only a little thing, but driving into the sun and getting my vision momentarily obscured is a little dangerous for that second or so. Especially if at the same time the car in front decides to brake suddenly.

No, I dont tailgate, its surprising how far the water can go when travelling at over 60 kmph. Sometimes I wonder where its coming from, as the car is quite a distance in front.

I only think that drivers probably don't realise what happens behind when they put their washers on.

I can imagine bikers would be even more annoyed not having wipers on their visors.

Very. I can't stand it. Always seems to happen just after I've washed the car to :( I know it's pointless, but yeah, in all honesty it irks me.

Some of them seem to get more liquid (which can have so much windex or other stuff in it) on the cars around them than their own windscreen!! :P

coming back from uni one day, mate was driving, some psyco lady few past us and cut us off very dangerously.

we returned the favor, got in front of her, she got trapped behind us by another car.

we basically emptied the whole washer botter over the roof

Okay??! I really don't think it's the worst thing a motorist can do on the road is it?

Just leave the windshield filthy and have a head on instead.
