Interesting to see what other players come to the table as Ford and Holden cease production of the Falcon and Commodore

Ford have had the Fusion (Mondeo) Sport AWD in the US, pity we don't get it, Mondeo is a very underrated car:
http://www.ford.com/cars/fusion/trim/sport/ I know, not RWD, but, really, who cares, that's really for V8's isn't it?

Nice work, a tip of the hat to Kia. Apparently has had a lot of handling work done.

i would get rid of the KIA on the steering wheel . Have Stinger badging in a running writing font. In fact all badging , and maybe a small badge - KIA not unlike the Lotus badge used by Proton ,just for Brand Snobbery. I like it .

Probably why the brand is being linked to (possibly) entering supercars next year.

And many cars (mainly high end Euros) benched marked. Im sure the Australian arm will tune it in Australia further to suit our roads and bench mark it with the locals as well (SS-V and XR8 Sprint). |

Nice looking car overall. Not quite sold on the rear quarter yet, and that 'T-Bar' shifter looks very '80s IMO. Early days yet but I could get used to it.

I thought the world didn't want large RWD drive cars.

So car makers are seriously into the "ipad velcroed to the dash" look huh?

Wonder what power the 3.3L twin turbo V6 can make without too much work, ie tune, exhaust, boost etc...?

I'd stick a Ford badge over the Kia one, the Kia badge is so awful nothing can save it. They are even the same shape. I guess it's ok since Ford set the precedence in the late 90s and deemed the Kia Pride to be a worthy member of the Ford family as a Festiva.

Put a ford badge on it really?
I like it though, good on em for having a go at a different market segment.

Just an observation, there is two different types of shifters in the photos. I do like the dark chocolate, but don't like optional iPad accessory.

G'day...THIS WILL BE INTERESTING...They tell us that large RWD only cars are not popular in Oz anymore or at least not enough people want them to justify manufacture..
What happens if this sells in decent numbers as an imported car I reckon Ford and GM will be hoping not somehow otherwise it might muddy the waters somewhat.. Didn't Ford have involvement with Kia for a time a couple of decades ago as mentioned already?..I know they did have strong links with Mazda as well with Mazda 323/Ford Laser and Mazda 626 / Ford Telstar rebadging....I had a 1986 Telstar Ghia 2.0 litre 5 speed manual. nice car too... Cheers Rod.. |

This Kia has the potential to shake things up here in Oz, good luck to the new RWD Stinger & its market segment competitors..lol! Interested to see how the other manufacturers will counter this offering from Kia.
cheers, Maka

They'd be happy with 200 a month, wouldn't think they'd get much more than that. The performance sounds promising and it looks sensational, although I don't understand the rear quarter. The interior would be a nice place to sit.
Really hope Kia can pull this off. |

I think this new Kia makes the most logical replacement for XR6 Turbo and SS HWP cars. Modestly priced, suitable size, large luggage opening, traditional RWD platform and decent performance.
So when both this and the new top spec AWD V6 Commodore go on sale I would assume the choice would be pretty obvious, both police and public.
