Default New HSV/Camaro

Reading in wheels (not the most reliable information) but it looks like HSV may be bringing in a 414kw and 747nm ls9 engine in 2013, in a 1929kg CTS-V coupe it can do 4.2 sec to 100km/h and 12.5 sec 400m, in the corvette ZR1 a 475kw version of the engine.

Last paragraph:
Performance will be, erm, strong. The 1929kg CTS-V coupe thunders to 100km/h in around 4.2 seconds and nails the standing 400m in 12.5 seconds - using an automatic box. Top speed is limited to 280km/h in the auto to preserve the tranny, but in the manual will storm to an autobahn-melting 310km/h. If HSV takes up the challenge, Claytons commodore should undercut the caddy by up to 100kg, so 0-100km/h in 4 seconds flat and a 400m sprint in the low 12s are well within reach.
Let the battle of the blowers begin!!

They need to ... cos Ford's new GT 335 is more like a GT 400 in real life figures.

About time we see some decent torque and power increases with the top of the line Aussie, 11 years since the VT GTS 300kw and we've only bettered it by 35kw.

Meh, it's page 1 headlines followed by a retraction weeks later buried on page 59....

Holden and GM are adept at grabbing headlines and apologising later,
a bit like their accountancy department I fear.....

GM have stated that no RHDs will be done for Camrao or CTS-V period
and as for the blown engine, HSV and Harrop are cheaper than GMNA.

They said it actively being considered. Well thats not really much, if I was in the engineering department or the CEO of HSV its a no-brainer that I would be 'actively considering' just about any engine in the GM lineup.
This is exactly what FPV did with Coyote, difference is, we have ours NOW.

This whole "Holden has to always be one better" attitude adopted by our printed media is really starting to give me the s**ts. I know this article is in Holden Magazine (aka Wheels), but the amount of times they sit here and tell us all their GM wet dreams is mind boggling. Give it a rest already & write up something that isnt speculative fantasy. As its been said;
HSV: Maybe.
FPV: Definitely.

^^ i get sick of it aswell, in wheels and motor if ford make front cover there will always be atleast one small front cover pic of a holden, doesnt work this way when holden have the major front cover pic.

This has nothing to do with HSV. It's Wheels publishing this.

Sounds good, but I hope by 2013 HSVs will have lost their Star Wars-ish styling.

of course it is smart!!!!!!!

what would be wrong with a 7 litre car? hsv have 6.2 at the moment so its only another 800cc. 7l would be great in a everyday car. smooth clean power heaps of na grunt. what does engine size have to do with everyday car? i drove a 2l lancer once and you know what???? the thing was slow the gearbox was crap and it used more fuel then my v8 because you have to rev the thing to redline to get anywere. not to mention it small and fwd.

the w427 is a 7l. and the ls9 is a 6.2l anyway so were did you get this 7l talk from?

agreed, the miami is essentially a 6.9l engine. 5.0 + 1.9 S/C. Amrite?

yeah it was a frustrating read... "laying the groundwork for HSV to create the hardest, fastest Aussie muscle car ever"... "Suddenly FPV's 375kW GTHO would look a little puny compared with the 414kW nuclear reactor powering HSV's hardest."

gotta love all the tough talk... someone seems upset with the notion of FPV being number 1 now. Maybe someone should let the bloke in on a secret about how much power the coyote really has and watch his grin fade

If/When HSV release it I'll be interested, but they don't have the goods.

If Ford release this "375kw GTHO" and it thumps the "414kw nuclear reactor" what will HSV do then?

From the journalists at Wheels who see a 6.2l S/C engine in the Camaro which has the same chassis as the Commodore and think, hey they're gonna put it in there as well. I guarantee Holden never initiated this rumour.
