I have a 88 ea falcon with some pretty serious problems
problem 1)the throttle position switch is apparently stuffed and causes the four speed trannie to drop back to third gear at high speed causing the car to rev it's ИИИИ off and the temperture to go off the gauge, hence the car overheating rendering it undriveble problem 2)when it does drop back to third it tries to kick back to fourth straight away but slips then grabs and has nearly killed the poor thing problem 3)every time i talk to a mechanic each one has a different solution leaving me : all ideas will help please help |

Get your throttle position adjusted. However sounds like a similiar problem i had with my trannie it was dropping back into 3rd gear whilst doing 100kph on the freeway sounds like the trannie is running to hot i got a trannie cooler and i have not had a problem since.

How come yer series 1 EA falcon has a 4 speed auto?? Was it converted over to a 4speed from a 3 speed? If so, who did the wiring? Maybe its a bodge job and something has come loose? Check the connectors...
