Heads up.
Fords just changed their 3 year / 100,000 km warranty to 5 year unlimited km warranty. This is now standard for any cars bought from 01.05.2018. Its not a limited deal, its here for good!

It should definitely push Ranger to number one, especially with PX3 upgrades on the way.

Although you could say otherwise with certain issues like the Focus fiasco.

5 years, pretty average compared to commodore warranty.... WHICH also includes roadside assistance.

Hopefully more manufactures do the same (come on Toyota Mazda Honda and co). I agree with mac man though if they say it's normal when it's not it is somewhat lip service. In my experience though I have found Ford warranty pretty good. The even fixed a tiny bit of rust on the underside of my boot on my FGX XR6 (that was 3 months out of warranty no dramas at all). I'm not a panel beater but it looked to me that the tiny bit of rust in question was on a spot that the paint just in that tiny spot was thin from factory.

I think most companies include roadside assistance. I know with Hyundai, you have to have your car serviced in the preceding 12 months though. If not you are not getting roadside assistance. Learnt that the other day when one of our employees had a problem.... and we didnt have servicing done at Hyundai....

With companies like Mitsubishi offering up to 10 years over a decade ago and Kia offering 7 years, a 5 year warranty should be considered the industry standard in this day. I'd like to see pressure put on the used car sector to expand its second hand warranty periods of 3 months for vehicles under 200,000k's and less than 10yr old to a more reasonable 250,000k's to better represent the increased milage people do these days aswell. |

No back up at all just the run around and wernt even interested in coming half way to the party after getting me to drive 2 hours on two occasions just to be told nothing. That I am afraid is the last ford I ever purchase Ford customer service also had 3 different excuses in the end I just gave up .Yep that's what they wanted and no more new cars is what they get. They can offer 50 years warranty and to clean my house every week and look after my dog but they can get stuffed.

The Holden warranty is only temporary. Fords is across the range for good.

and they offered 7yrs last Nov or Dec to increase their dwindling piffle sales so its NOT the same but soon they will follow for they'll be forced to it.

With companies like Mitsubishi offering up to 10 years
My friends 3yro Mitsubishi, just out of warranty, was denied a rust warranty claim last week, for rust where the paint was clearly inadequately applied. So don't put too much stock into manufacturers honoring their warranties. Cheers JIm |

Have to say I was a little shocked to read this today. Great to see and makes the longer warranty standard unlike the on-off extended warranties used as sales tactics from others, Ford included.
I don't really see this move from Ford influencing the likes of Mazda or Toyota, their product sells on name alone. Holden on the other hand, will probably one-up Ford and make the 7 year warranty standard, like mentioned, after the EOFY.

Warranty alone won't sell cars. Look at Kia. They've had 7 year warranty for ages but they don't sell anywhere near their sister company Hyundai.
At least the Ford products are good products and this just removes the advantage that may tip some people toward other brands. |

Is it actually Roadside assistance? When I had a Renault, the roadside assistance was really just a towing service... mechanic would attend purely to confirm it wasn't user error, wasn't authorised to work on the car.

About time. Even good old unreliable Jeep has a 5 year warranty.
I think 5 years should be the new standard rather than 3. |
