Well as it seems to be the thing to do at the moment, I thought I'd better go and buy another car- can't let you lot have all the fun! :
As many of you know by now we recently traded an Ed XR8 Sprint, and it was too good an opportunity to pass up. So here are the first photos, bear in mind I took these at work, so the lightings not the best. This is her as she was traded....two words- RED DIRT anyway i took the opportunity to give her a quick bath during my lunch break- as anyone who knows me and my cars can tell you they don't stay clean for more than 24Hrs.....and true to form we had to drive through a storm coming home tonight.....oh well, I guess I'll just have to wash her again : She appears to be fairly stock, the main mod so far is the body mould stripe should be black, (i think the previous owner may have changed it), but i kinda like the red, so I'll probably keep it like that. I'll post better pics and more details when i get time.

there is a bit to be done, but it's going to be a long term prospect.
short term will be a good buff and polish, and the interior needs to be detailed pretty thouroughly. on the longer term list is- *The power steer cooler needs to be looked at as it is leaking. *the cooling system (radiator) needs a bit of a servive. *the tape deck will be removed an a CD player will be installed and new speakers too. *the drivers seat needs to be repaired/ recovered as it has worn through in places. not a great deal NEEDS doing, but there are some things i want to do- the main thing is that all mods will be reversable, so she can be returned to stock if need be.

Nice pickup there. I've always liked the Sprints - they're a good package. I'm sure that you'll be finding red dust for a while - it just gets in everywhere.
I'm sure you'll find things that could do with a tidy up. You'll pull something off to restore, only to find 6 things under/near it that need doing. Or, you'll tidy something up, then it makes other things look rough nearby, so you'll do them as well. It seems like there's an influx of "new" cars into the Club. What's next? Our President gets a BA GT. Our Registrar gets a Capri GT. Our Secretary gets a current model Falcon. Waity buys an EL. Which is most likely? Cheers

as for getting rid of the red dust i think it'll be a life long commitment, but i'm willing to make the sacrifice : it will be at least 18 - 24 months before she sees the road again, not going to rush it, i wanna do it right and maintain the originality of the car. Kel just asked if i intended to keep it forever or restore and maybe sell......i told her she was more at risk of being sold off then the car was.

I like what yu have done Ivan. I tried to talk Chris into a sprint at the Last Kedron, but just as well he hung off as he now has a top machine. Hope we can plan another run out your way before winter this time as the last run was a beauty
P.S. Vice presidents get G.T's President gotta stick with the FBT |

i've seen the FBT and i don't feel the slightest bit sad for you. And yes another run would be great...i tried to talk Kel into having the day off to go to Elliot Heads with you guys, but to no avail : , apparently paying the bills is more important then fanging through the countryside with ya mates :

We'll have a cold one for you. I look forward to us scheduling a run out your way so we can catch up - missed the last one due to the RACQ refusing to pick me up anymore if I drove the XW... Cheers

Well Ivan You missed out on a great run yesterday. We had a mixture of weather. We had rain between M'borough and childers so heavey at times you could hardly see the car in front of you. A great morning tea at Childers saw another downpour which kept us under the cover. Just as well we are all good friends as it was quite cosy. Onto Elliott heads saw glorious sunshine (with the heat) and the park absolutely chockers with the Rock and roll club that has every breed od car you could imagine. But our luck was in and they left before lunch, giving us one of the picnic spots and the barbecue. Had a long leisurely lunch and then headed home Via Miminos icecream factory.(sorry kelly we did have one for you). All in all it was a great run where everthing worked out just fine.

I'm glad the weather was kind to for lunch at least. It would appear the Mammino's pit-stop is becoming a tradition now, Kellie will be impressed, lol.

Very nice mate. What engine combo did the Sprints cop? Still E7 heads? I notice they run a HO manifold, so I would assume the E7's would be on it.
