The new Corvette Z06 is the best high-performance sports car value in the world, period. Chevrolet engineers and designers took lessons learned from their ultra-successful C5-R Corvette Racing program and applied them directly to the new ZO6, and the results are spectacular. With 500HP in an approximately 3130-pound (1419.7 kg) package, the ZO6 delivers 0-60 performance of less than 4 seconds, will cover the quarter-mile in the 11's, and deliver a top speed in excess of 190 mph. It is the fastest, most powerful car ever offered by Chevrolet and GM.
The new Z06 was developed in conjunction with the all-new Corvette C6-R ALMS racer, and the engineers ended up with a totally unique vehicle that has its own powertrain, body structure and chassis system, which are distinct from other Corvette models. Most impressive is the new "LS7" 7.0-liter/427-cubic-inch Gen IV V-8 with lightweight reciprocating components that was directly lifted from the all-conquering C5-R. This small-block 427, which will be hand built at GM Powertrain's new Performance Build Center in Wixom, MI, delivers 500 horsepower at 6200 rpm, 475 lb.-ft. of torque at 4800 rpm, has an 11.0:1 compression ratio and a 7000 rpm redline, and features titanium connecting rods and intake valves, and a dry-sump engine lubrication system. The 'vette will cost $230k. www.corvettequeensland.com.au full details |

Right on parawolf. I have seen better finished and better looking interiors in Daewoo POS boxes. What sort of money are they landed, converted and complianced here in Oz?

Looks like a tarted up mix of VP and VT Commodore dashes....and FFS, whats the deal with the shifter, too lazy to engineer moving it.

You'd need a left arm about a meter longer than the right just to change gears. Thats shocking, at least FTE moved the shifter further over in the Oz spec Mustang Cobra's, but I guess thats the difference between a factory conversion and a backyard job.

How much? No sir!
Edit: Just saw the interior. Wowee, I cant image a WORSE place to spend my time driving for $230K. Perhaps the designers think you'll be too busy concentrating on the world wizzing past at 200+kph to care how appalling it really is. |

the funny thing is, the interior in my '88 MR2 is nicer than that, and I could make it go much faster, stop heaps harder and handle far better than that for a LOT less than $230K!

The gearshifter in the US car is angled towards the driver showing the gear numbers and all. That is a C6 Z06 right? Cause that has the wrong steering wheel as well, it is supposed to be a three spoke wheel. Looks like they raided the pick-a-part's storage bin with that interior.

Thats an auto shifter too, Z06s dont come in auto.
Btw: Heres a video of one doing 0-200mph. ( I think the quicktime version only works?) http://www.motortrend.com/multimedia...eos/index.html

Seriously, I looked at that Interior and I just can't stop thinking "Oh my god!" I think almost every car maker on the market strives to have an interesting psuedo euro interior these days, even on the cheapest of the cheap cars. Yet heres a car worth on the nearside of 300 grand and thats what you get! A big silver plactic cover over generic stereo and HVAC controls and vents is NOT what you'd expect in a car that price, It looks like on old proton (GM, haha) Daewoo interior! You can get a ferrari for that, or sit in a recent model AMG merc for that!! I cant beleive that they have done that with the interior! And Dont get me started on the Mitsu 380 Tiller with the vette logo stuck on it...... |

Brand new Chevrolet Corvette Z06 C6 = $65,800 US ($90,136.99 AU)
Importing here = $7500-$10,000 AU (worse case here, so 10k) = $100,136.99 so far. RHD Conversion = ~$15,000 AU... $115,136.99 Compliance, rego, and other minor BS... ~$5,000 AU... $120,136.99 $110,000 markup!?!? Insanity! It's not that good a car anyway. It's fast, but it's poor quality, it's got a super ultra super bad ride, the gearshift is typical GM bad with its T56, etc etc. $230k? Give me a 911 Carrera S (997) ($221,100) any day. Sure, only has 350hp to the Z06's 505, and is slower, but at least it'll always work, impeccably, always. Or a second hand 911 GT2, 911 GT3 CS or GT3 RS, 911 Turbo (996) which will beat the Z06 anyway and still be a better car whilst doing it.

oh, i just remembered too, did you know that the Z06 C6 has LEAF springs!
i'm serious! all the journo's whinge and moan about the Falcon ute and wagon still using leaf springs, but at least they're designed to carry loads, this is a $230K sports car!
