I miss my old Dragster from my childhood. everytime i see someone riding one (rare!) i stop them as ask how they got it etc. (for the younger people on this forum a dragster was the 70's most popular bike, before BMX was born)
they had a 3 speed shifter (just like an auto trans shfter). is there anything you had as a kid you wish you still had?

We had these things called "Click-Clacks" Basically was a piece of rope and on the end of each string was a pool/snooker ball. You cant get them anymore and they were banned because too many kids broke their wrists with them.. but I loved them. There was a set on Ebay about 12 months ago...sold for over $300.
The noise they made were great and I used to hit my brother with them if he got on my nerves...

working on has the lowrider forks but retains the 3 speed Sturmey Archer "coffin shifter" T-Bar, with hub gears. It's retrotech. But if you're
i appreciate the new age designs of the dragsters, they are as eye catching as a COBRA in the streets, but its that 3 speed shifter that makes or breaks it for me. that is the single part thats irreplacable.

In no particular order:-
- Driving onto a runway apron at a regional airport and being able to fuel up with Avgas straight from the pump, no questions asked. - Buying fireworks and .22 ammo from the local Milk Bar. - Snogging 3 chicks at one party as a teenager and not worrying about the morality of it (or lack of) - Milk chocolate covered Cherry Ripes, yum - Stuffing around with trucks and cars, "learning" to drive on my cousins farm. Ahh, my first case of opposite lock, dry hard dusty river flat...around and around and around in an old V8 XA... - My Dad. A man's man, Camel ciggies, V8's, fishing. Being taugh proper blokes stuff, like cleaning rifles, gutting fish and using power tools. - Building billy carts and finding a steep hill, say no more. I can still smell the Camel ciggies...and the Avgas.

Ahhh getting the 1 lt glass bottles and handing them into the milkbar owner, all to get 20 cents, only to spend on lollies. Jeez what 20 cents used to buy......
Funny thing is, you would either knock it off from behind the milkbar or some of your neighbours. |

At 17 years of age. Buying a .303 SMLE in a second hand shop for 30 bucks in Rockhampton then walking down East Street with it into a gun shop and buying 100 rounds of ammo. No questions asked. |

Being 14 and buying a 150LB crossbow and 36 arrows for $120.00 from Aussie disposals (1 weeks wage) then dad taking me hunting for rabbits and foxes down near Frankston.
Riding my RM80 to the shops (no helmet) and not getting hassled by the cops, 2 buck worth of chips was a meal for you and 3 other mates on the way home from school, 45 cent bus tickets, petrol being 55 cents a liter, $2.70 dollars filled the RM80 and lasted all day.
