Hi guys....
As there is a HUGE range of forum members, with different tastes, perspectives, etc... I pose a question to you... because I'm curious... and love opinions... What do you think are the top 5 most popular classic cars in Australia?? What i mean by this is - the most popular... not the most valuable, not the rarest... and in Australia (not necessarily Australian cars)... ie: a Mustang (of sorts) will surely feature in your top 5... But I'm very curious, given the HUGE range of cars (and opinions) out there... Feel free to explain and/or justify your selections... 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Let the discussion begin...

Some clarification needed i think;
1) Is this your own personal fav top 5 or what you think the general population see as the most popular top 5? 2) Also are we talking Australian made only cars or stuff from the rest of the world too? 3) when you say classic you do you mean 30+ years old as per the accepted interpretation?

1. Falcon XY GTHO Phase 3. The iconic Aussie classic muscle car. Enough said.
2. Falcon XC Cobra. Limited build, great marketing, unbeatable road presence and sold out in an instant. No less popular today. 3. Holden EH. Everyone loved it because it looked like it could drive through a brick wall and not get a scratch. 4. Valiant Charger. Hey Charger!! Who could forget that ad campaign and I loved these when I was a kid. 5. Holden Torana LC - LJ. A new direction for Holden and a very cool little car. Can't say I know of anyone who doesn't like them.

Going to be hard to come up with a definitive answer to this. I like loftie's list (MGB should be 1960's not 70's) however I would substitute the Mini for the Camaro. Despite the number of Mustangs around I would not be surprised if there weren't more numerous cars out there that were originally sold in Aus & didn't all have to be imported. Possiblies would include Morris Minor, Mark 2 Jag, Mark 1 Cortina and VW Beetle. Depending on how narrowly you define models, cars like FB-EK Holdens, XK-XP Falcons are pretty numerous also.

BMW 8 Series
Corvette Stingray DB4 Dodge Charger Ferrari 512 Tesstarossa They are just older cars I like. I wouldn't say popular. Perhaps not even classic. |
