Hey guys, have a AU1 Wagon which has smartlock of course, I've notice that the indicators don't work when I lock it, the parts car which was also a AU1 with smart lock did, does anyone know what makes the indicators work or 2 stop working?
would like to get them to work again so I can see when its locked from distance etc etc.. Thanks.

Have you removed the blinker flasher & swapped out with another known good one yet?
cheers, Maka

Howdy, The BEM (Body Electronics Unit) controls this. I have an NL Fairlane which stopped flashing the RH indicator when locked/unlocked years ago.... then about a year ago it stopped altogether for a while... and now its one side of the other ! Hasn't affected anything else yet... so haven't worried too much about it.
You could try swapping the BEM out of the donor car... I think it can be done without Ford's help in the AU !?? Don't quote me though ! Dhru

Yeah replace flasher relay but didn't work, and have another bem but not the key and barrel that came with it.
May just have to wait when I do a Fairmont Gita dash swap

I know this is an old thread but I have hope
Did you ever solve your problem with the indicators not flashing? Mine stopped working after 19 years of working for no good reason about a year ago. I have changed the relay, no luck. My Central Locking still works fine it's just the lights no longer flash when locking or unlocking the car. I want to check the connections on the Central Locking ECU but I don't know where to find it so again I hope maybe you can help me out with that as well. |

Bem is above h/brake area and controls flashers when remote is used as well as central locking and many other functions try wriggling connections You may find removing bem and carefully resoldering pins on circuit board fixes problem or you may need to replace bem Prior to 6/99 smart lock system and only requires ignition on 30 to 60 minutes to program after this it is smart shield and requires scan tool to program 2 keys etc. |
