Default That lowered black BA LTD on 20's

I remember it was either Ford, or Herrods, or some other large company released a LTD concept which was black, had unique rear lights, quite low and looked schmick as. Does anyone have the photos/details on it?

Cheers

Twas FPV and was a concept car called the "Galaxie 540".

Had MOMO 20" wheels, custom rear taillights, and was actually Blue Pearl in colour. Was never finished (had one side skirt unpainted), and didnt have an interior, was built for 2003 (?) FPV Open Day and disappeared after that.

Proberly crushed into a cube.

I think the FPV had some interesting ideas, but it was obvious it was rushed, with limited resorces and wasn't for production.

Honestly if Ford did up a LWB car simply as a design exercise or show car I think it would be money worth spending. Ford has issue regarding luxury car design (gloabally), in they can't make a stylish luxury saloon. Even with jaguar struggles.

I wish I could explain it to Ford. Get a LWB car, fit something simular to a regular XR rear bumper lip, twin chrome pipes out the back, skirts, sport kit on the front bumper, a nice little boot lip spoiler, a LED rear light cluster, some nice 19/20" wheels and the XR8 bonnet and you would have one hell of a sexy car.

Black the interior completely (like the turbo terri but every thing black inc dash), red dash lighting (for the mencing look) and a few more chrome touches. Put LCD's into the friggin headrests (give rear passengers ICC control through the head rests!). Heating elements in the front and back seats. Give it a BOSS 290 engine and terri turbo brakes and guess what..

People would buy it over a 300c or a SRT-8. But oh no, we can't try and save the LWB cars, lets shoot them... And they could recover most of the development costs by offering skirts, bumper, lip as options on new and used Fairlanes to help shift units and improve resale.

Jesus what I wouldn't give for a day with some clay at Ford.

LMAO Jeff.

Ideas like this are great, but it takes more than the population of an Internet Forum to say "I'd buy one" before a car becomes viable to produce.

u my man are a genius i love the big cars my first car was a zl fairlane and since that i get very excited when i see tough LWB cars hmmmm if i had the cash a black g220 would be in my driveway on 20s.

we need more people like u in ford development...u are so right about people buying 300c and the like if ford jazzed up there range it would sell no doubt. they tried with the g220 but it should have had the 290 boss in it and then it would have sold better to younger people wanting to go the PIMP route hmmmm i dunno ford can be so smart but so dumb at the same time

2nd hand fairlanes are cheap. it wouldn't cost much to get a G220 and an AWC bonnet... plus some other goodies and do it yourself.

i like it
altho i think spoilers on LWB cars look funny
the LOW sleek look is much nicer to roll with

the RED and YELLOW tail light look silly.. maybe if they were clear with LED or just coloured bulbs
but the rest of the *** looks nice

the front bar looks rather nice pity its a chopped clubsport item

the rest of it i like alot!!
great stance
nice big chunky rims

but definatly a pity it was munched!!

my fairlane will get to a stage like that one day..

20s in the next few weeks
Then lowered a while after that
Get the stereo installed properly(dodgy box in boot at the moment etc)(DIY)
Dints n scratches need repair on the bodywork
Few interior pieces broken/missing/worn(id like BETTER quality leather rather than the terrible sweat inducing stuff i have now :()(nice in winter tho)
Exhaust tip fitted (have got 2.5" system)
Extractors
get PS2 in the car etc
good fun guys good fun

what's the name of those wheels, i love them. they would look awesome in shadow chrome (did i say chrome?, i hate chrome wheels : ) hmmm makes mental note when tired of the black Modenas.
regarding Fairlane pricing, my old man is about to buy a 2004 Fairlane Ghia with 52k on the clock for less than $30k.

Looks like a HSV front bar as well.
Would have been nice for it to see the light of day ... production wise.

There will be some people out there that will mod their Fairlanes ... there was one recently with a GT front on it from memory .... now that looks neat and tidy.

If i had the spare cash I wouldn't mind a LWB project like that.

It may not be viable directly, but like how the T3 made no direct profit for Ford, it gave the AU series some street cred, it started to get people interested in the Falcon that could perform, which helped bolster the popularity of BA series of performance vehicles.

I tihnk Ford should make a limited run of 100 Galaxies

Exactly.

Ford has to already be losing money on the Fairlanes. Its not going to turn that around by doing nothing. Its thinking like that, that nearly closed ford oz down after the AU.. Oh sales are down, looks like a trend, close that, sell them some taurus's. Oh what, Australians won't buy them? Well unprofitable market for us then, I guess we will just back out completely.

Even if they are going to put a bullet in them, doing something like I described would be a hell of a lot better than several hundread Fairlanes sitting in dealers doing absolutely nothing. Most of it could flow onto SWB models too. Its about proving a direction.

The LWB models need a good send off, who knows in 10 years big LWB cars could be all the fashion and Ford may try to reserect them. Remember the baby boomers are all going to retire soon, hell of a lot of grandpar cars need to be sold.
