Talking So CRYHSV wasnt such a crowd pleaser at todays Street Commodore Cruise...

Good evening all,

Well today I went for a little drive by myself and thought I pop past the Street Commodore cruise seeing how i knew a few mates there and they invited me. Well let it be said, I dont think there was much love for me at the Regatta centre today. Between the taunts, profanities and smug looks, i thought I was about to get bashed. That being said Ive always cheered on the Underdogs and probably wouldnt have it any other way. So between the women it the vt wagon swearing like no tomorrow with her kids in the back, and the bogans in rage about my thick eye brows and gold chain, all in all, a good day!

Just kind of confirm my thought on the red team and there mentality.

+1 for siezing the opportunity to go out of your way and make people angry over silly little things, without causing harm.

So if I was to pull up on a Ford cruise in a Commodore with the plates "CRYFPV" (With power to back it up of course) would I expect a warm welcome, or get smug, weird looks and the feeling that I shouldn't be there?

Really it works both ways mate. Anyway on another note I had totally forgotten about it until yesterday . Hoping to go in 2012 when I get my Clubbie.

And for those getting on the defensive, I knew were I was going and what I was doing, so dont get all sookie about it. Harmless fun and no one was hurt so an entertaining day for all.

I was wondering why there was a massive amount of Holdens in the Minchinbury Bunnings carpark this morning.

Some nice vehicles turned up for the cruise though I must admit ... and then there were a few vehicles that were bad enough that they needed crushing as well.

There were a few in the crowd there that acting like complete nutjobs ... The rest of the crowd seemed pretty good though.

Car enthusiasts enjoying the day ... at least the morning was a nice one for a cruise.

I hope people reading the original post realise that this was a bit of innocent fun. The same way a teams mascot does a bit of poo stiring at a footy game. My post was not a rant and im not surprised about there reaction, not at all infact!
So if you cant manage to see the light hearted humour In the OP, then you are the one with some sort off issue as Im sure most will see the humour and he mickey in the whole saga

How insecure are some of those people, they embariss themselves and the entire group of Holden owners in attendance.

They're not enthusiasts, they're just an angry person that hangs out with other people that drive Holdens.

How much do people like that miss out on in life?

Having said all that, if you expected that response from this particular group, probably not the smartest move on your part......

EDIT. just seen your latest post above this..... you were expecting it, and you went there knowing full well that this particular group would be hostile. That's foolish and silly behaviour imo.

Gold mate, one thing i have noticed since i jumped ship over to HSV is how much i dislike 80% of the so called holden enthusiasts. even there forums are crap, nobody seems to give genuine posts about how to do something or give advice. they use every opportunity to post stuff about there cars and how good they are. That's why im glad i still have a ford in my shed, ford owners are different, and that is a fact.

Having spent over half a decade here aswell as various Holden forums I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "Ford owners are different"?

I've often said how good this forum is and I genuienly mean it, but if you're going to use a negative like the Holden guys talking about their cars and how good they are it's no different here. You can get some really good technical advice on a Holden forum if you look hard enough as well.

Just out of curiosity Ryan, and please don't take this as a dig or anything negative, but what made you join this forum? If you're a Holden supporter and (presumably) don't own a Ford, why become such an active part of a Ford forum? Just curious that's all.

That's a pretty fair question mate. When I joined this forum I wanted to broaden my knowledge of cars and at that time I was joining all sorts of forums like Toyota, Nissan, Mitsubishi etc (I never became as active though) and a Ford forum was the next logical choice.

Despite me being a Holden fan there are various Ford models I do like. I have a big soft spot for Cortinas and Escorts. A Cortina was my first car, but even still I like to use other areas of the forum that aren't automotive related.

Over the years as I've gotten more experienced I've found myself excepting the good and the bad in both makes. I still like to have a stir especially around Bathurst time when the V8s are on, but it's in good fun.

Honestly I never thought I was going to last here, but I have somehow.

I could say a lot more, but it's going a bit OT....

It's the same at motorcycle shows that I've been to and the few I've helped organise...there will be the natural good-natured ribbing about someone else's make of bike, but there will always been numpties who see it as their life's purpose to point out loudly and longly how you're a tool for choosing what you drive/ride.

Most people however will appreciate the amount of work you have put into whatever you drive, as much as they might not be a fan of the badge.

Although i didnt attend the cruise i am a holden fan and if i was there when you turned up i wouldnt have cared. After all the day was to raise money for charity not to see what car is best which is why its good that the guys with even the worst commodores turn up to donate some money all for a good cause.
Your not the first ford to join in the cruise either and at the end of the day we are all car enthusiasts so does it really matter what we drive.

Went to one in the xr a year ago and I had bottle thrown at my car while I was driving. Luckily they were Only plastic, so they didn't do much damage.

At the end of the day, it isn't a ALL HOLDEN meet, it's RUN my street commodores but no where on their advertising does it say holdens only.

Turned around, I could only imagine the response "FPVSUX" would get at a Ford rally.

Both camps have their stirrers but the avergae fan has enough intelligence to
keep their emotions in tact and appreciate the worth of the other guys package.

If you go to oldholden.com right now, you will find someone there complaining about an ad for ford mechanics on that site.

I've been to a Commodore meet with Chev badges on my XR6 Turbo, it's all a bit of fun at the end of the day. Some people just take it all too seriously.
