I have a fairmont wagon that has the nice woodgrain in the dash but i would like to have door trims with matching woodgrain spears, can these just be installed on doors that dont come with spears from factory?

Yes, and if you're lucky there should be holes on the door card itself from the back so you know where to drill through.

Yep. I did it ages back on my Fairmont. All the holes were marked out on the back. I've since changed to a full Ghia interior.

No difference at all, got fairlane door spears in my wagon.
Just be careful screwing the spears on, the bits that go through the door become brittle over time (well mine were anyway).
