its all good and fun ...... but we (=tax/fuel payers) pay to fix the damage anyhow..... it would be nice if once they were trashed, they werent replaced ;)

Yes the beloved gatsos of pommyland, when I was over there, they weren't painted bright yellow but in a sinister grey colour that blended in with everything over there.

This site has been around for years. Give it time and we’ll probably see a few cameras creatively modified like the ones pictured. The tyre with petrol in it method seems quite effective. :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: out:

I actually saw a speed camera that was disguised in a small casing that kinda of looked like a brick letterbox, but in metal of course. Sneaky little buggers! Seen it a few times too on Kwinana Freeway heading north just before the narrows (Perth)

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. "Another burnt out GATSO". Geez, them brits think of everything don't they. Imagine the poor (sic) NSW government if their beloved cash machines were destroyed. If I saw someone vandalising one I would probably help. Gotta love people power.

It's funny how if a speed camera gets vandalised its often replaced promptly but any other road repairs take forever. The more smashed cameras the better! Maybe when it costs more to replace them, than what they make off them then we won't have them. Wishfull thinking I know!

There was a guy sneaking around at night spraying over the lenses with a pressure pack paint can.

With the money they make on them they can afford to replace themselves. Maybe if only specific 'get stuffed' locations were targeted then it would send a message. If you get what i mean ;)

Speed cameras for road safety not revenue raising finds the Victorian auditor general,

I think our auditor general is suffering from Optical Rectalitis

There are that many speed cameras in the UK i dont think 1% of them getting burnt out will do anything.

Here in Melbourne when the new cameras went up on the west gate fwy (on greaves parade overpass) they were there a week and some one hit them with a 22 out: . Not a day later they were replaced.

In Perth there is a guy who drives around in a white van with Speed camera up ahead written in his rear window in large letters. He parks his van 300 mts before the camera pulls his ignition leads out and says that he is broken down and his mate is coming to tow him away (4 hrs later). He has been in trouble a few times but legally they can't touch him.

If cameras are not money making gambits then why do we never (well very rarely) see these life saving devices in black spot areas? only on Major hwys were the most money can be sought?

It was a good read to see those cameras burnt out! :

NOTE: if they want to slow people down they should install speed humps (kidding) :

Still laughing at the gatso's but by far, the pic with the gatso and "piggy bank" written on it was the best.

Lol there's a few new cameras popping up on Nepean highway, in Melbourne.

* Bay & Nepean (cheltenham)
* Warrigal & Nepean (mentone)

I remember a camera being sprayed twice & the first time it was repaired promptly but the 2nd time it was sprayed in a way that was hard to tell & it wasn't fixed for some weeks later (good work).

There's a fixed camera on Ferntree Gully Road near FTG Auto Salvage which looked like the top had been blown off, unsure if they had fixed it by now.

Dont know about other states but in NSW there is a usually a security camera watching the speed camera. Plus on some roads the RTA will put a barrier next to the speed camers to stop it getting rammed.

Lol, that's really a bit stupid.

Shouldn't they be investing in cameras for known danger areas of Sydney, to make people feel safer.

I remember someone trying to ram a speed camera out of the ground down here a few years ago with a 4wd. lol

destroy the camera watching the speed camera, then destroy the camera, then pour concrete down the middle of the camera's support beam, therefore they'll have to replace it cause they can't put cables thru there anymore. Alternatively you could pour some hydrochloric acid down in the cable area to totally stuff them up beyond repair, would slow them down a bit

You would definitely need a team of people, one person wouldn't be quick enough to evade being seen.
We shouldn't accept these ridiculous rules, like the new IR laws and these outdated greedy speeding laws. They have the technology to limit the speed travelled in cars but would rather keep charging fines to those found speeding.
