I'm looking at buying a cheap e series (EBII onwards) preferably on gas. Was wondering what to look out for?
Generally, when to the 4L's get tired km's wise? What areas are prone to rust? Any other major problems? I have spotted one with 350k, on gas for $900. Has some front panel damage near A-pillar, might be bent as the drivers door doesn't close properly. Is there already a thread for this? I did a 2sec search but didn't come up with anything. Cheers Pat |

hrmmmm. They are old cars, most generally stuffed but u can revive them pretty easily. Common things are headgaskets blow, waterpumps shit themselves, rust in the doglegs, auto transmissions root solenoids resulting in harsh shifts, power steering racks wear and of course they chew suspension bushes and all that just like any car. I wouldnt buy one with over 300k unless u knew its history. Spend more, get a better car, put it on gas using ex taxi bits, drop in a 500 buck AU motor and your laughing

if the A pillar itself is bent, most insurance companies declare this a write off because it is structural...
