Angry Remove Diesel Smell!

Hi folks,

So I was servicing my dirty diesel Hilux today, decided to change the fuel filter over.

Being a very unskilled mechanic, I managed to get diesel everywhere. Most concerningly, I managed to cover my stainless steel watch in diesel. Now the band (one of those strechy stainless bands) is full of dirty, stinking diesel and I can't get the damn stuff out. Seeing as it was a gift from the missus, I really need to get the thing clean.

HELP!!! Who's got a solution for washing out diesel. Tried soaking it in lemon juice to no avail. Any ideas?

try some truck wash like CT18 . will be a bit kinder to any water proofing seals that might be in the watch then degreaser.

A strong solution of hot water and dishwashing liquid. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Eucalyptus oil will do the trick, works on anything oily, my wife uses it all the time.

Cheers,

Hot, as in almost boiling, water and a healthy dose of dishwashing detergent will be your best bet for fast and cheap cleaning.

Ct18 is acid based so it could damage the band, degreaser will leave its own smell and film.

I have found that to remove diesel and diesel oil from my hands nothing, including the proper hand washes ( although the grit in them rocks) works as well as simple cheap dish detergent.

I keep aldi elchealpo on hand all the time.

Does not come off easy. My brother used my car to transport a diesel engine, got diesel and oil all over my boot. As others have said, some sort of degreaser and hot soapy water got most of it out.

If it's a good quality watch try the dishwasher.

I use laundry power in the sink with warm water , tooth brush to scrub while stretching ... I find it to be cheap hand cleaner , and the best for diesel
