I came back to test drive the blue teams offering recently, and I like.
How did the E2 hold up? |

A while ago I too sampled a product from the Red side, a VE SSV....... and I really liked it!! 31 years of driving and I've never owned a Holden but this one gave me some food for thought!!
I did start a thread on it but what started out as a mature, balanced and good humored discussion turned into the inevitable sh!tfight. Anyway, as long as Ford and Holden strive to outdo each other then the product gets better...... Win all round.

I've copped a HUGE amount of one-eyed Ford / FPV bashing recently, if I listed them the swear filter would overload however a few of my favourites:
1. Get a real car 2. Don't get a fix or repair daily 3. You'll spend every weekend fixing it 4. Get a TRD Aurion, they have 1/8th the fuel consumption and weigh half as much 5. Buy a jap car, they don't break, even 20 year old ones. 6. *Insert numerous comments about batting for the other team* 7. Why would you buy something based on the AU 8. It's not as fast as an LS3 with an extra $10k thrown at it. When I present them with logical thinking to demonstrate how I came to my choice, I am met with "but they're gay"...... amazing.... their brilliance is such that you have to wear welding goggles in their presence. |

Now what's even funnier is most of the one-eyed bashing comes from people who either:
A) Own/drive a VN-VT model Commodore in poor condition, occasionally with wheels which are worth more than the whole car. B) Brain-washed friends/girlfriends/wives of above who have no idea about cars, but say silly things "just because".

How did you go? Some time ago I test drivea VZ Clubby and honesy was shocked with how crap it was. At the time i was looking at upgrading my VYSS.
Looking at the 2, GT Vs E2. U cant imagine the E2 coming even close to the blown 5.0. And if the interior is made by the same ppl as the VZ then not much luck there either. On the Pro side I imagine the handling to be impressive for its size/vessel like appearence.

Awesome...would be great fun...
As per the bashing... I find from experience that people that rely on advertising and perception are the ones that have no idea... At work when I said I drove a Falcon, a lady at work that drives a Berlina asked me if I wanted to drive a "real" car... I said that the Falcon is a ripping car, to which she basically discounted purely because it wasn't a Holden - which she then said, "Good old Aussie car"... When I told her that the Falcon has been Aussie designed since 1972, she then said, "Well, there you go!" When I said that the Commodore wasn't Aussie designed until 2006, she didn't want to hear it... I am not against Holden in any way. Drove a VTII for a while...I quite liked it. Give me a VE Calais and I will gladly take it! I have my preference - I expect people to respect that as I will their's... I find the people that bag my choice are the ones that know nothing about cars, or are just genuinely stupid...

Lot of crap gets thrown back and forwards between the red and the blue camp...when it shouldn't exist at all.
Face it...the current Falcon and Commodore are both great cars...both have some niggling little foibles, but nothing major. Not to mention with a tiny market like ours we're just lucky the overseas bosses of both companies don't just make good thier long-standing vieled threat and shut up shop here except for an import business... I have no preference either way, Ford or Holden (I'm a Valiant man deep down... ), and it was a toss of the coin and a better trade-in deal that sees a G6E sitting in our driveway instead of an SV6 or possibly a Calais... |

Interior crap on VT-VE?? I have a VX (s/c "s") and the interior is MUCH better than the (newish!) Ford (which scratches, chafes, wears). The VX is over 10 years and 250k old.
The Ford is a FG GT (had a BF GT before that). Being Ford biased, would I go a Holden? With a proper outcome on a comparison, yes (as I did the VX against the AU). |
