Default Decisions....

Well. as a number of you know, I'm walking for the next 10 months, but I want to do a few track days etc while Im suspended and return with an even ballsier street car at the end of it all... So I'm having a dilemma.

Current Status:
Fairly tough XY (410Rwhp, 9" with locker, XA GT rear drums, Kings lows all round and big sway bars, 15x7" Globes currently fitted)

Plans...
Plan A:
Strip the interior of the XY (A pair of racing buckets, sheet alloy where the back seat was, guages etc), Half cage it, little lower, 15x8's on the back, fit the Drop tank i've been given, fit the biggest damn brakes I can inside the 15" wheels, and do a few Suspension mods to make it handle and hook up.

Plan B:
Strip my driveline out of the XY, fit a basic driveline to the XY and sell it.
Buy a straight XD 6 that I can lay my hands on cheap.
Fit XY's driveline to the XD.
Build the car up as basically a replica of the True Blue Group C XD, but with 17x10s all round, big brakes, and basically the same suspension setup as mentioned above for the XY.
Interior is also a half cage and race seats....

Plan C:
Leave the XY as is and let it fester in the shed for 10 months

Plan D:
Sell it all off and do something else for 10 months....

You already know my thoughts Bish, while waking for the next 10 months, fix the XY up nice. No need to go ripping the interior out though.

You do know you can fit 15" x 8" Globes on the front.....

Go the xy. Your 3/4's of the way there without having to strip the car and start again.

Having said that though, a tru blu replica would be pretty cool

Lol. It is fixed
At the dyno day I just had to fit the stripes and front bumper, which are both done now.
You can obtain a CAMS licence without a drivers licence.
As for the 10 months, no, it was a first offence.

hmmm, that's a tricky one. I guess my only suggestion would be to consider this carefully. I'd hate to think you sell it for want of a new challenge and then regret the loss. Maybe sit on the idea for a month or two and see how you feel. Would you consider keeping the XY and getting an XD/XE to work on?

While an XD has style, it's different to the style of an XY. If you stripped the drivetrain from the XY, and sold it off, odds are you'd be kicking yourself a few years down the track.

If you want to play with an XD, why not buy one, as well, though it might take longer to build up, without the capital from selling the XY.

Whatever you do, don't sell the XY! Keep it as a neat street weapon, 10 months is not that long when you compare it to a lifetime of regret if you sell it. I know as I have been there before.

I surprised even myself with my answer, as I really don't care much for XD Falcons. But somehow, a true blue replica that would pass the original in 1st gear sounds pretty bloody good to me.

I voted for c.. Just spend the next 10 months tidying up all those little things that need doing and then you will be itching to get on the road again. Better the devil you know

Hmmm...I'd say a little from A and a little from C, fix her up the way you want but at the same time when you get the itch, take her out and let loose...you know you want to Bish, you can't just let her sit there and do nothing, you will go mad!! And for God sake!! DONT SELL IT!!! get that thought out of your head man!!

keep the xy dont touch it at all except for minor touch ups as stated..

want a xd replica go buy one dirt cheap get the kit fit all up and leave it a efi 6 or go get a easy already built 351 for it or buy one with a v8 already in it..

but def dont touch the xy you will regret it..

I like swanny's thinking! B & C IMO. Keep the XY as a tough streeter, and do the XD True Blue Group C replica as a dedicated track vehicle!

If you can get by for 10 months without walking, maybe the XY can be the "daily", as usage will be low ;)

What shape is the body in ?, the engine and drive line are in good shape so why not give the body some TLC too match, you have far too much time and effort in that XY to sell it. if it were me i would paint it Electric blue, top colour !

Plan c IMO. I also think the reply from geckoxr8 is on the right track. It is easier to sell a xy in good condation than it is to buy one. Old fords rock.

A mix of A and C. Don't turn the XY into a trackday racer only... just fix up the bits that need fixing and in 10 months drive it about everywhere you can.
