Trial: Videos in the Gallery

After a number of requests in this area for us to host video we are going to run a trial over the next few weeks to see how this impacts site performance and utilisation of bandwidth.

Videos can be uploaded to the member gallery with the same size restrictions that are curently in place (total file size 5 Mb) and the same restriction of 5 uploads per day.

Acceptable file formats are: .mpeg,.mpg,.avi,.asf,.wmv,.mov.

We will review those limits after the first 14 days to see if they can be increased.

Well i/we just posted a 60mb file of harry's diner that got raped, like 200000hits....
Coz some ****er copied my post and pasted it all over boost, cruising bris, and all them other sites...so watch out...

as good as it would be to have videos on there.
i do agree in that i think it will create far too much traffic.
look what happened to the aufalcon.com server when their video library was shown elsewhere :o

yeh it wouldnt be a good idea...you get tossa's just throwing up links all over the place to them...

maybe if there is going to be a problem with bandwidth, traffic and general misuse (from here and other sites that use the link) then maybe make it so you need at least 100 posts here BEFORE you can even see the link to the clip. that way people wouldnt just signup to see the funny clip and post the link all over the net.
food for though anyway......just to get the ball rolling about security.

The gallery uses anti leaching technology and all items are only visible to registered members even via a direct hyperlink so I think that is reasonably well covered. We will wait and see how effective that is.

i can't actually upload any videos
i just tried, and it did nothing, took for ever to tell me that too, it was a 3mbish video.

i assume u do it the same way as u do an image?

i seem to have a lot of problems with the gallery over the time its been there.

I couldn't find any video section. Maybe there are none.

It isn't an individual section at the moment - just a part of the normal gallery. If you look for recent posts in it then you will see that some of the recent ones are described as Video.
