Hi,
Has anyone extended their Ford NCY on a MA Mondeo? Our 3yr/100000km warranty is due to expire in April and I would like to know if anyone has looked into this and what the costs are? Cheers |

Hey XtRmn8. Feel free to PM me, email me on mgroom@sinclairford.com.au or call me on 02 4721 9147 and I can chat to you about Extended Warranty. We prefer to deal with the Ford Extended warranty rather than dealer specific warranties as they are nation wide and offer better coverage....they aren't $3k either....

I made enquiries last year and received the following information from Sinclair Ford re extended warranties
myFord Extended New Vehicle 12mth/100,000km - $1245 24mth/100,000km - $1345 36mth/100,000km - $1495 12mth/200,000km - $1345 24mth/200,000km - $1515 36mth/200,000km - $1785 myFord Factory Approved 12mth/100,000km - $865 24mth/100,000km - $1015 36mth/100,000km - $1195 12mth/200,000km - $1125 24mth/200,000km - $1285 36mth/200,000km - $1495 48mth/200,000km - $1695 One is a Factory Approved, and one is a FULL EXTENSION of the Manufacturer’s warranty. Both are provided by Ford AUS, but the Factory Approved has a few exclusions like cosmetic things such as gear knobs, steering wheel, pedals, trims, glass, paint etc. The Ford New Car Extended Warranty is a straight extension of the Manufacturer’s warranty.

Ha ha ha, not at all Ian. Those prices may have changed since then and also they may be different for a non-XR5 model too...
What you say is right though...one is a direct extension covering everything still including light globes and other things that the manufacturer warranty does...but the 'factory approved' (and you'll be able to tell by the title of the warranty if it's a 'myford extended new vehicle warranty' or a 'myford factory approved warranty') does have some exclusions like what has been mentioned. Also They are BOTH nation wide and are not limited to visiting one dealer only for servicing...as long as you follow the scheduled servicing in your booklet you're fine. So you're not required to take your car to Adelaide for servicing if you've moved to Sydney, and your extended warranty will remain. A lot of the 'free extended warranties' or dealer extended warranties require you to have your car serviced at THAT dealer, or else you lose that warranty. We can sell these, but they often carry exclusions beyond reason and have limits per repair and things like that. If you want any more info...you can view the PDS for both warranties on this page -> http://www.ford.com.au/servlet/Satel...oller&site=FOA

Thanks for the replies. I am over in WA and will contact my dealer tomorrow to get prices. But because the dealer is part of chain here in WA they will try and sell me their own warranty that I am not interested in.
Looking at keeping the car for another 18 months post warranty expiry and I do not have a whole lot of confidence in it so better be safe then sorry I guess. |
