Just wondering if anyone knows of any chip tuning available for the new WS Fiesta? I've been looking around and there were one or two companies that did it for the WQ Fiesta 1.6ltr. Anybody know if the engine in the WS is the same as the WQ apart from the increased factory tune?
Thanks in advance. |

At this moment I think only Mountune has a reflash for the 1.6 Ti-VCT. Also WQ and WS engines are different. WQ engine didn't feature VVT

Most of Mountunes extra 20 hp or so came from intake and exhaust modifications.
They did very little to ECU parameters. Go have a talk to someone like Hitech and see what they can do |

Were you referring to Hitech mufflers company? Their website doesn't list anything for the Fiesta. Not even the WQ. I'll give them a call anyway and see if they can do some sort of custom application. I'm considering in fitting a BMC CDA air filter in and probably do something with the exhaust and see if any I can find any company who can provide an ecu tuning solution to the fiesta. If its possible then I'll get the car dyno'd with before and after results and see if I get anywhere near the results of mountune. |

Given that the things ping on 91 octane I don't think there will be anything to gain

As for ECU tuning, it isn't simple at all. The ECU is very likely to be a different variant than the previous model which will mean a tuning company will need to crack any map on the chip, decide on what parameters can and should be changed and then dyno tune it to be safe to check AFR's etc ie again, a custom tune. I had a custom tune on the Forester but the Forester is relatively easy because plenty of software companies had done previous work on the ECU. |

The Mountune upgrade increased exhaust drone.
Not something I'd live with in this type of vehicle and it could end up drawing extra attention from the BIB's ;). If you do go ahead with the exhaust and intake make sure you get a tuner to check AFR's on a dyno. The ECU will deal with some changes but there is a limit to what it can do. As others have mentioned, the ECU already sounds like it runs the mix lean. Last thing you want is to lean out the mix so much you end up with detonation. Hitech are good as far as exhausts go but have no idea really about engine parameters really. |

Hitech = custom exhaust = already established = just reinterating.
Tune = piggy back = aftermarket = Expensive = never been done before = good luck. Montune = aftermarket = history of FOMOCO AUS = no chance = you can have hope = but you still wont get. = good luck.

I have just found out that the 1.4L engine is pretty popular in the UK and there are camshafts available for reasonable prices and gains. I wonder if its worth doing in the fiesta (those who bought autos) ?

the 1.4L is indeed identical from 1995 ish focus, however the power was raised from 80 to 96hp, and fuel consumption is also a lot better. But still it's 15 years old stuff.
