gday all
as the title says i have a 98 el sappire and the thermo fans are running all the time what i would like to know what tells the fans to turn on and of or are they supposed to stay on jason

they will stay on all the time if the aircon is on. turn the aircon off if they run all the time with aircon off then what temp is the gauge showing 1/4 normal there is a thermo switch that turns them on . follow the wires to the thermo switch.

they arnt meant to be on all the time at all, id say a relay is staying on, because the auto elec at my work put another relay in to make them run all the time wen people do turn thier aircon on so that the AC is colder.

I'm pretty certain they do run constantly once the engine is up to temperature. They are 2 speed fans so when they are on low you won't notice them, but when they switch to high you can't miss them, they get very noisy.
Are yours on high constantly?
