Default Officially one step closer to Lakeside!

Hi all,

Time for an update.

It's no secret that we have tendered for a Long Term Lease on the Lakeside Motorsport Complex.

Well, it is official. We are in the Top 2!

The 4 who put submissions in were:

Total Driver Pty Ltd.
RACQ
Motorcycling Qld / Aust.
Qld Raceway

2 of these have since been rejected leaving us and one other. The final step now is an oral presentation to council mid next month.

Will keep y'all posted.

Cheers,

Sweet! It's gonna be good having track close by rather than having to drive all the way to Willowbank. This is really good news, Good on ya TotalDriver!

Thats excellent news.

Lets hope that the other bidder isnt the RACQ, as they have too much of a goody 2 shoes reputation. They wont use it for good, just evil.

Best of luck, make sure you have the vicks vapour drops with you, so you can sing your presentation... just like the commercial ;)

Thanks all, we're really looking forward to the presentation and the final result.

They won't tell anyone who the other party is, but the word on the street is it's RACQ.

Cheers,

Mike

QLD raceway is a lot of fun but unfortunately is one dimension short.

Driving lakeside is a little bit more unforgiving (actually a lot more) and will be better when there is a bit more rubber on it.

It is also closer for me.....

Lakeside Update....

Well, it's all done and now it's up to the council to decide on what they want.

Our presentation went really well, we are quietly confident but reserve excitment until we get the official notice in a couple of weeks.

Now another 2 weeks or so of nail-biting!

Fingers crossed!

Cheers,

Mike

Good luck with it mate. It would be a great shame if the track became a forgotten part of history.
I raced there in the my old superbike days & enjoyed every lap of the joint.
Best of luck.. :

Nope, not that simple. PRSC haven't even officially confirmed as to whom the other party (s) is (are)!

How long ago did you race the Superbikes?

Was it in the Shell Series?

Thanks for the support.

I don't know the history, but mayor Chapman seems very interested and motivated about the future of Lakeside. Obviously, no one gets to hear what happens behind chamber doors, but the feel we get from the council is that they are just as excited about the whole thing as we are.

We've got the next 12 months pretty well booked already at Lakeside if it all goes ahead. Can't wait!!!

Cheers,

Mike

Good luck TotalDriver. As others have said, it would be a real shame to see such a piece of history lay to ruin.

I wonder if it was a historical building and not a racetrack, would the same debarcle (sp?) be happening about restoration. I think not.

Bring it on Mike

There are a couple of generations of lakeside ex drivers that will use it when it becomes available.

Good luck with your bid. would be gr8 to have a track so close by. 10-15 minutes as opposed to 1-1.5hrs
will be nice to see the track use for what it was intended for not just sitting there heritage list wasting away
