Noticed today oil leak but can't located where it is coming from the front crossmember below the radiator has a lot of oil in it on the drivers side around the lower front suspension bush but the top of the crossmember is dry and I can't see any leaks from above. anybody had the same prob or any idea where oil may be coming from
Cheers Mike

Do you know what type of oil it is? Is it red? could be tranny fluid coming from the cooler lines which are at the front on the drivers side of the radiator.

How's your power steering reservoir?

Is the engine using oil (ie is the level dropping over any sort of time)?

Trying to diagnose an oil leak in a falcon motor, over the net, with no pictures......is the theme for the next MI movie - MI4: Arabs revenge

If it is the 220 then I suggest checking the oil cooler lines where they connect at the oil filter, a known problem and most leak there after a while. Simple fix though as all you need to do is tighten the nuts.

Drivers side of the engine could be the dipstick tube. I had the same problem with mine as the tube isn't fastened to the sump in any way.

Another classic from JC.

I can't help you much with the oil leak though, as I have zip experience with the V8.

Hope you track it down soon and that it's not anything serious, or hard to get sorted.

Toke back to car yard where purchased today turns out its the steering rack thank god for warranties.Wife went to pick up car this afternoon and they must have bottomed out the front and the back of the car when they drove it. The front and rear spoiler have moved and now have bulges in them.

Ouch that sucks. At least you have gotten a new rack out of it, must be a common thing with them as I got a new rack under warranty when I bought mine.

You can get a reco rack for around $300, IIRC. Fitting is not that hard, just time consuming.

Toke car in today to get bumpers fixed they didn't fix rear bumper and front bumper is all out of alignment. Rang car yard after much debate and heated discussion they have agreed to allow us to have it repaired by a panel beater of our choice and they will fit the bill. Mecahnic we toke it to thrashed car did 4 kms and toke 60kms off the DTE. This was after me telling him that they thrashed it last time they had.

There are some absolute tools in this world isn't there. How does this twit justify 4kms and 60kms off the DTE send him an invoice for the fuel.

I hope everything works out good for you.

Hi All,

I just noticed last night that I am also leaking power steering fluid (the reservoir was nearly empty)
I had a brand new rack put in 6 months ago, Rang my mechanic today with the pub hol on Monday he cant squeeze me in till Thursday forgot to ask him if I check the levels and keep it topped up is safe to drive?

Could it be a leaking hose I cant see where the leak is coming from but one of the hoses is very oily are hoses easy to change.

any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
