Default Wiring behind the dash

On my Falcon ED classic GLi I am wanting ti fit a trip computer.

Do I need a wiring loom everywhere I've looked I have yet to see one being sold with a wiring loom.

Also I took of the boot release button with the empty space next to it for another button and I was suprised to see that it had a wiring plug going to the empty button as well as the Boot release.

What is this for and since the wiring is there is it as simple as putting a switch there?

That will be for the remote fuel door release.

And NO, it won't work if you fit the switch. Need to get a new fuel door without the finger lip, release solenoid, saftey release boot wire etc etc.. to make it work. Go to the wreckers and have a look at a fairmont model, give you an idea..

Actually ALL EA-ED fuel doors had the finger lip, despite the fact most of them have the solenoid driven fuel door release. The only difference between the fuel doors is the catch on the inside.You can always drill the rivet out and put the other catch in. You don't need a whole new fuel door

Yeah I din't think I'll bother with the fuel dooor release seems very pointless to me.

In that link that trip computer has a plug in the back of it with 12 wires coming out of it.

Everyone I've seen only has the trip computer itself.

When I ask them to include the loom they all say it's to much effort to pull it out of the dash.

yeah no worries mate, it's been that long since i owned the EA S-pac falcon, was just looking at my EL fairmont that i have had for 3years now and the fuel door is perfectly flat with the car body.. I would say all EF,EL's have the remote fuel door release???

dang.

So I have to get one of those loom things with the 12 wires on it like in the tutorial on fordmods?

Are they fairly easy to install?

yup, all ef/el have the release button, though wagons retained the fuel flap with the finger lip
