I own a 99 KN Laser Sedan.
Ive done the stereo side of things and picked up multiple trophies, and eyeing off the RSR front bar from Lasermods.com, Audio and bodywork im 100% fine with But now im thinking of engine work. However... Mechanically im like a polarbear in a desert - stuffed. What are my upgrade options and what costs are involved with having them put in. Or would it be easier to transplant a more powerful engine in. and what costs would i be looking at for that? |

No point trying to modify your current engine. Most people have transplanted the BPT (1.8L DOHC Turbo) in from the KF/KH TX3, or if they can afford it the BPD (Same engine, much stronger internals) from the Mazda Familia GTR.
As far as I know it is illegal to go to an older engine, keep that in mind. Cost to do it all correctly? Including gearbox and upgrades brakes? BPT perhaps $4k, BPD perhaps $6k.

Just wondering if it would be possable to fit the F2 or even the FE3 motor to the laser?
That would seriously get it going along nicely. |

About the legality of it, I am sure you can do it so long as the engine meets the standards of the year the car was made. ie. if you were to fit a motor made pre '86 to a new car you would need to fit a cat if there wasnt alreddy one. But I am not a lawyer or cop so checking it out would be smart.
