Default Any one done a xr8/TS V8 conversion to AU

Im dreaming ATM,and have asked before but As the title sugest any one done such a conversion here, what were your thoughts ,I know the cost factor can be high but I need a wagon for work/kids/shopping and they are hard to come by V8 and my SR wagon is worth nothing to sell with over 200ks on in so selling it is not the best option.I want to buy a wrecked xr8 III or pursuit ute or TS50 (around $5k) and swap it all over plus reset computer at ford. ,what ever I can find at the salvage auctions next year maybe if Im good.Ive got a big shed now and am pretty handy with a spanner so labour is no prob.what ever I dont use will be sold off to recoup some costs.

Then do either an XR front or TS kit to finish it all off.How tuff would it be.

Any comments?Do I need a engineers cert for this I wonder?been through that before!

You Might Need Emissions Testing aswell , but yeah , that would be tough , why dont you just get a Wrecked AU 220 Motor , Still pretty touugh and just Supercharge it , there would be no mucking around trying to get rid of parts

Why would you need emissions testing when you're putting an engine from the same model in? The engine would have been certified by Ford to go into that particular model so I can't see that being a problem.

You'd need to get the new numbers all OK'd with the RTA etc to keep it legal but other than that it'd be the best way to do it, and like you said, get yourself a wreck and start transplanting.

yeh I pretty sure NSW doesnt require Emmission testing unlike other states, but yeh its an option engine(V8 is anyway) for this car so I couldnt see any real big issues with doing the conversion using all factory harnesses/ computers, brakes even to keep it simple, just wondering how many people have done it.

I think a T-boned/rear ended ute would be cheaper/better option to buy actually as nothing behind the front doors in a seden suits a wagon swap anyway,I can use the diff from a ute at least.
Will keep a close watch on the cheifs conversion progress as it looks awsome allready and the TS engine really will top off the package.

I am doing the conversion in the first week of Febuary. Has been 3 years since I thought of doing it.

You do not need to get emission testing done. The only thing you need to get done after the conversion is a blue slip and new rego to go with it.

If you need any help feel free to PM me.

Come Febuary I will do a "how to" ala GK style on how to put a T3 stroker into another car. :

That's a good idea chief. There's always people looking for cheap, easy mods they can do to the car to personalise it a little. : : j/k

A "how to" on engine transplanting. Now that would be something special.

I wouldn't think it would make all that much differnce, just the diff.

I used an written ef xr8 sedan to transplant my xh ute to an 8,I got the diff center swapped for $100.

ah. ..... and the rest of the drive train we are talking an xr8 200kw or pursuit 250kw,the wagon and ute share the same axle so I can use that, with a sedan the housing is different, coil rear solis axle or IRS................ :voldar02: :voldar02:
