Default Sailor returns positive drug test

http://foxsports.news.com.au/story/0...002381,00.html

I can understand the logic of someone who earns hundreds of thousands of dollars playing a sport, has several incidents leaving him on thin ice, and then to put himself in this position. Does he really have a brain in his head? He used to be my favourite player when he played for the Broncos, but now Im older and more wiser, Ive come to the conclusion that he really dosn't have a love or passion for the game, he follows around money, and in general, is a dead set tosser.

Apparently, the rumour is it is cocaine he was busted for

Only has himself to blame. Throw the book at him.

Though if he is banned from union. does that mean he can return to league and just keep playing?

Ever since he left League, it seems things have gone from bad to worse for Sailor. I remember him being a fantastic player a few years ago. Then the switch to Union just diluted his skill and he suddenly became a very ordinary player... perhaps this is why he turned to using performance-enhancing drugs?

He's an idiot for doing so, for sure. But I can't help feeling a tinge of regret that he's fallen from grace.

Throw him out of Union. He is self centered and this just proves it.

Throw the book at him. He knew the rules so he should suffer the consequences. Sport has no room for drug takers. Especially when they are role models and kids look up to them. They should be setting the example.

Only got himself to blame, I saw old Mr Sailor about 6 years ago throw ice then spit at a girl behind the bar at a club, ever since then just lost complete respect for him.

Whats wrong with smoking crack???

It doesn't make him perform beter, it makes him a crack head, if anything wouldn't it make you perform worse?

The way I see it, if athletes coose to use social non-performance enhancing drugs thats their choice, they are punishing themselves, why is it any else's business??

Thumbs down

I think you guys need to remember football players are normal people too. Who gives a crap if he racked a few lines of coke, it's not hurting anyone and doesn't make him a bad person. If he does hurtfull or stupid stuff while under the influence of it then yeah fair enough but the simple fact that he did a bit of coke does not make him a bad person and anyone who thinks it does should be shot!

He is a public figure and should behave himself. He also has the reputation of the team he plays for to uphold. It is not normal to smoke crack and anybody who does it is an idiot. As for the people standing up for him, have a look at his history of trouble and the way his stupidity can affect people.

Bet he was using perf enhancing drugs, and so as to not "bring the sport into disrepute" they will call it social drugs.
In any case, he should not do it, he knows the consequences, and they can be tested 24/7, its in their contracts....just a fool

...because they are paid a lot of money to promote the "product" (the game, club etc).

The club/code cannot promote their product over the rival clubs/codes if sponsors and the paying public are of the opinion that they are supporting a bunch of crack heads.

Do you think mums and dads are going to want little Johnny playing or watching *that* code.
The Commonwealth Bank, Telstra etc would also be less than pleased at the prospect.

Its all down to money.

Yeah but if they didn't test them for recreational drugs in the first place then not many people would know about the players using them and the game wouldn't get a 'bad image'.
I think you'd be surprised how many players actually do use recreational drugs...

I doubt:

a) the NRL would want him in the comp after his record off-field
b) any team would take him (I highly doubt Broncos would even consider taking him back)

Plus he'd want to much $ for what he's worth, esspecially so late in his career when teams are blooding new players. I think most NRL fans agree anyhow - we dont want him back ;)

Up until a few years ago I worked with the two major sporting clubs in Bris. These days I work one on one with elite athletes of all varieties.

I think you'd be surprised about how much I know about whom ;)

I dont know if the NRL would really stop it happening. Look at john hopoate and his problems. The NRL let him continue playing. I dont know how much he thinks he is worth, but after this incident and his past, he would be lucky to get a lifeline and his value is now much, much less. Maybe souths will pick him up. And since when have the fans had any say in the nrl?

He's not coming to league, the WADA would blow the NRL out if the water if her were to play under a 2 year ban. It looks like we've seen the last of Dell on a football field.

Just on sports tonight. It was cocaine he got caught taking. Whats the chances of the police becoming involved now?

I wonder if the french league abide by the WADA agreement. Could be a possible chance there.

I can't believe there are actually people here defending drug use, but okay, that's fine. You can use coke all you want, I don't care. But the fact is, these players sign contracts and they know the consequences of being caught with this stuff in their systems. Whether or not you agree with the punishment is irrelevant, it's in the contract.

That's the way I see it too. They know their particular rules when they sign the contract. Bit like drink driving really, it's against the rules so if you drink, drive and get the bag put on you and fail, you deserve evrything you get. Obviously there is a lot of morons out there in all walks of life.

Can't believe it either.

People have to realise he is in the public spotlight, he has a certain responsibility to behave himself, or face backlash.

He even said himself on Sportsworld a little while back that he's old enough to know better. Obviously he didn't take his own words seriously.
