how can i change the colour of the dash lights to blue
i tried condoms and i tried the blue globes and ideas how i can change it

any car shop like supercheap, autobarn and such have them. Or you could do like pat and just dip them in blue paint haha

the lights are all behind the cluster, no need to rip nothing out accept for the cluster

I'm also interested in changing the lights to blue LED's with red LED's behind the redline and speedo over 160km.
Does anyone know where I can find a step-by-step instruction on how to do this?? And is it ossible to change the colour of the lights behind all the buttons to blue as well?

The procedure for removing the cluster will vary depending on the car, but generally there's a few screws and the surround upclips, a few more screws holding the cluster itself on, and looms at the back to unplug. The bulb holders twist off at the back of the cluster.

Condoms are coloured pieces of rubber that slip over the bulbs (I feel uncomfortable saying this for some reason
 ). It is a cheap way to make a stock incandescent bulb have a different colour, acting a bit like a lense.Just remember that the extra heat of the condom will compromise the lifetime of the bulb, especially compared to LED. Also, the standard colour of incandescent is on the yellow side of the spectrum, so in order to get blue, you'd need a very dark blue tint. For example, the Eunos had blue condoms from the factory but the end result was white illumination... needless to say the white LEDs are much nicer. |

The results arent that blue, it looks nothing like the BA XR's dash, keep this in mind too
I guess the more expensive the Led's are the better If you use condoms, remember to replace them when they expire and also dispose thoughtfully |

I wanna get mine done with LED's, I've seen a vy or vz commodore with all the lights in the dash replaced (including in the factory stereo) and it looked sweet as. is it possible to replace the lights in the ef factory stereo, or somehow make the display blue??
has anyone on the forum done this??

bear in mind that LED's have a forward voltage of AROUND 3 volts (depending on the colour) therefore need a resistor to drop the voltage down and limit the current (from memory, any more than 20mA will shorten an led's lifespan)

i installed a fairlane dash last week, i installed some blue led's into the spot for the speedo and the car outline. problem is, the light doesnt shine through!! why???
it was so dark, so i put my original globes back in and they are so much briter

Have a word to EA2BA, I think he did this mod without issues. I plan to put white LEDs in mine - they're good all-rounders. Blue would not work for the tacho because it is shining through a yellow lense (therefore most of the light won't get through).
