Default Have $75,000 to spend? Which car?

With the introduction of the GT 335 and the buzz around its release, many have said "This is my next car .... " But with so much out there in this price range and you had this sort of money to spend and it was time to actually put your hand in your pocket, would you actually go and buy one?

What is more important to you? The handling? The badge? What else is out there that would fall into this bracket that is on your most wanted list?

The criteria would be ......
*4 door sedan
*Daily use and carting a small family around
*Budget $75,000
*Must be under 100,000 k's

With the selection above, all are under 100,000 k'a while most are under 25,000 k's, some are new and a couple are demos. Be interesting if anyone could pick the most expensive?

A few pics to help with the selection with in the price range:

In that line-up, the GT. It has warranty, looks the goods and will not leave me wondering what might have been... as almost every other car on your list would. If an IS-F fitted into that cap (closest is $88k) I would have a little quandry

Well if I could afford a $75k car then, putting petrol in it wouldnt be an issue. Plus theres no age critera, only mileage so............

But out of Auslandau's list, itd be the GT of course.

Absolutely GT. I'd have one in my driveway now if I could.

Also love how it's the only car shown with a decent interesting colour.

As much as the new GT appeals to me, I just love the looks of the Chrysler 300C and have always wanted one.

Either the New GT or the E55 either way your getting a S/C V8 and 12 second 1/4 mile from the factory.

I was truly torn. I chose the 335 GT. I prefer new cars. Was really hard to though with the CLS and the XF. However, if I could get an E class demo for the money (E350) I would probably go with that.

The GT of course, nothing else there has any appeal IMO.

I think it may be best to ask the question on a couple of other forums mate (if you are a member of others ofcourse) as you're not going to get a good variety of answers from the many sheep here.

I think the Chrysler and both the Audi options are very nice cars. I also like the GT too but i'm not on my knees kissing it.

I think the Suburu Imprezza or the HSV Clubby are the go mate. They look great and also look like a $75,000 (or there abouts) car, whereas some of the others look very plain and boring. If I saw that Volvo or Lexus on the street I wouldn't even look twice at it, has no appeal.

Your money, your choice.

Just doing the comparisons and was suprised at some quality cars that you could get for the same money! BMW's seem to be the most over priced though, I am sure they are great cars, never had much to do with them but if you look at the A4 vs 3 series ..... no comparison.

With the Mrs saying ..... "Oh .... I like that merc .... I like that BM ..... that Audi is nice ..... why do you want another Falcon? I tried to show her what little car you could get for the same price ...... bad move.

Got me thinking though what people really think when there are other fairly decent options available for the same price as a 'Falcon'

There are a lot of nice cars there but my choice is biased with a couple of extra conditions such as where to get it serviced and I drive a lot so I would wear it our rather quickly. So of that group I would choose GT first, F6 second.

On the other hand if I was worried about resale, Merc AMG first and all the new cars last with the holdens and fords being right at the bottom.

No brainer. Out of that list the E55 AMG every day.

However I would opt for something that didn't make your short list. Is a 2000 or thereabouts E39 M5 at under $60k not appealing?

Seriously? The E3 and WRX I thought were the only truly ugly vehicles in the bunch. In fact they are both almost universally disliked as far as looks go.

You are saying a Clubsport and Impreza look like they are worth more than the Mercs, BMWs and Mercedes?

I went the GT because I'm personally a massive fan of the look (new stripes and wheels included) and of course the numbers it are pushing out are unmatched in or even near its class. But I will admit a lot of those Euro cars are far nicer looking and definitely have the feel of a whole better class of car.

You know, if it were me... I'd struggle to pass up the unbelievably pretty Jag! The XF is just... wow. But I'm not sure what actually lurks in the engine bay. If its their 5.0 S/C it would be the little tiny nudge I would need.

But the GTP would be next, with the F6 chewing its bumper. The rest... doesn't really do anything for me. They juwt don't look right. Regardless of donk.

I went with the F6 in assuming the GT is naturally a FG1...if it was FG2 then perhaps I would go the GT.

Failing that I would get one of these BMW E39 M5..MANUAL!, not on the list but hey its a "dream" car.

Realistically with $75K I wouldn't buy any of them, but I went the 300C as to me it seems cooler than the rest.

i`d have to agree ST, looks alone are a subjective thing and truly the clubby looks the most over done pig in the frontal treatment i`ve ever seen, as for XR`S sheep comment, i guess i`ve always wanted a GT and this one is the best GT ever imo, if that makes me a "sheep" then i`m one, sorry if i`m not up to your high standards.
