Default Anyone put a 351 windsor in an au

I am currently in the process of working out exactly what i need to put a stroked 351 windsor in my au xr8 and am looking for anyone that has done this or knows of someone. I would love to talk to them about it.

I think Sledgehammer has done something similar with his AU.

it is actualy cheeper to stoke a 351 than a 302. I have looked into it and so far im looking at about 3500 for a stroked 351 in the car and running fuel injection. Thats before i do the gearbox and driveline.

But a 347 is so much fun!

According to chris its pretty much a bolt in swap with eng mounts and gearbox mount not sure about efi but he said it was easy.

3500 is that for the kit or is that fitted kit?

with the intake manifold of the f150 lightning in the states i can run standard explorer upper intake so the pic's of the motor will hopefuly look reasonbly stock. I have enough trouble with cops as it is!

thats for the kit. Ill build it my self. You just need the lower injection manifold of the post 97 f trucks with the 351 in them and then your standard upper intake bolts on. All you need then is a flash tuner and you can run standard electronics.

cool sounds like a plan.

Tho i think ill stroke the 302 and have the same eng number etc so when it does get hit by cops it wont be a problem.

the 351s are an older motor so for licence they need to approve efi emmision well over here anyway.

Good luck with it mate and keep us posted

Good point, you may have trouble with the authorities when it comes to the emissions side of things with the 351. Just something to remember.

the AU engine is a windsor so from that perspective it is bolt in. You might be able to use some of the injection components off a 351 Fseries (mid 90s these things pull like you wouldn't belive i drove a new cab chasis without tray and spun it off the mark in 3rd ) and i think you would need an edit to get it to run to its full potential also the BTR would need to be strengthened or it'll be spin clunk rev then tow truck lol

The emissions rules in the US are tougher than over here so hopefuly that shouldnt be a problem. If it is its near impposible to read the engine number on a windsor in an au anyway so it might have to be a registered 302. they look the same from the outside its just bigger on the inside. Hehe

Only problem I can see with that is insurance. If you do have an accident and they check the engine number it won't match and they won't pay.

use a 302 block the difference between the 302 & 351 is stroke IE crank & rods so with a 302 block the insurance co will never know
