Default Austin Brand Makes a Comeback

Well i dont know what to make of this one, but by the looks of it Nanging Automotive have gotten their hand on the Austin Marque and look like rebadging the Longbridge assembled MG's

http://editorial.carsales.com.au/car...w/2384582.aspx - Linkage

Personally im not to concerned about it (and yes im a british car junkie), after all they are UK built examples and personally Austin would be a much better brand for the chinese to flog there ex MG Rover and indigenously developed roadsters

I wonder whether the Austin buffs will take to this - having just put it all to rest with the Longbridge centenary.

All it is is that Nanjing have acquired the name along with other names.

I sometimes wonder whether I had the last Australian Austin. My P76 was production line no. 4 and because it was produced pre-release when the branding was a secret the compliance plate and registration label were stamped "Austin"!

He had an Austin 7 he ripped the body off and drove around the farm, he built a sports sedan from an Austin A30 & Holden 6cyl

The reason the Chinese will be using the Austin brand has some recognition value, rather than a brand new one. Some people will probably even think it is British.
