Default Noisy Fan

hey guys

over the past couple of days the fan in the EA has been really noisy, im not sure what is causing the problem but it seems that even after the engine is at running temp the fan doesnt turn off (or slowdown whatever happens)
ive done a visual check and i cant seem to find any problems, mind you i did hit a roo the other day but it hasnt seemed to cause any damage, i just wanna know what could be causing this.

thanks in advance
Juz

Go and try and rotate the fan by hand, if theres considerable resistance then the fan clutch is stuffed.

Most EAs tend to have noisy fans. The fan turns with the rotation of the engine so it never switches off unless the car is off. The more you rev it, the quicker it turns. One thing I've noticed is that the amount of fan noise is most noticable on either hot days (which might be the reason in this case), or when the car is running cold. Don't ask me why. One mod that a number of e-series owners have done is the twin-thermos. This is more to get rid of the fan noise than improve the cooling system. It would be a handy mod, make the car sound a lot nicer.

it is a viscus coupling which is activated by the air temp passing throught the radiator and warming a wax type thing in the front of the clutch.it makes a noise in the morning cause it don't know what the car is doing yet,,but generaly you shouldn't hear it unless it is a very hot day,try rotating it by hand,if you feel a lot of resistance replace it,if you feel none at all replace it,,i just did mine,,it cost me 95 dollars for a brand new repco one..
