Adding to the list of things that need to be fixed/replaced it feels like the clutch is on the way out too. It just seems to melt whenever I need to get somewhere quick on a hill start.
Any suggestions on what to replace and what to replace it with. May also look at a lighter flywheel - but I'm in 2 minds about that - the cars already easy enough to stall.

Wow you've had a bad run lately BLS..
I recommend keeping it standard UNLESS you can pickup a high clamp 'performance' set for less bucks... I mean in another 140,00Kms you won't have it right? Then again if it has turned into a diesel it may last for ever. |

That's exactly what a lot of my mods have been, for example my DBAs were cheaper than the stock rotors at that time.
I'll probably look at Exedy unless there is another option. To be honest I don't have much mechanical sympathy and drive the car very hard so the 175,000kms this car has done could probably be doubled.

Looks like I'm up for a new clutch also! we have done about 110,000kms
I jumped on the clutch to hard on a 2 to 3 gear change ( on the limiter!!) glazed it up, shudders on take off. thought I had done the master too but maybe just boiled the fluid cause if you pump it a bit it comes back. will do a fluid change or just wait till i do the clutch. Got quoted about $570 (trade) a few weeks ago which includes the slave as it has the thrust bearing attached to it. Oh if you are going to pull the gearbox out yourself It has NO dowels Be carefull as it will just drop out once the bolts are out. Mate at ford found that out LOL.

Although I have done a clutch before on my old pulsar, I probably would get someone to do it for me this time round.
Good to see another LS racking up hard driving kms.

i vaguely recall discussions from long ago saying that aftermarket kits were cheaper and to a certain extent better than Genuine Ford, just like rotors.
