I hate to say it, but this exactly the kind of public car unveil that is making the old-school thinking of Ford marketing seem dated and boring.

What a fantastic commercial... Capture the imagination and plant the seed!

I don't think it's that Ford is a notch below this, as much as Hyundai is a notch above everyone else

I liked it better when ACDC done this at Rochester Castle! But saying that, very well done for a promotional event.
Now, I wonder if Ford could do an add of any kind with ACDC? Mmmm, maybe an FPV add with "War Machine" being belted out as the soundtrack?

With the money they must have spent doing that "advertising spectacle", Hyundai could have made a cool car......
.......Killer effects though!

Clever, maybe too clever?
Did you notice the driver's door? It's lack of conformity caught my attention. It looks like there is something that runs to the car then inside the driver's door. Maybe it controls what's under the car. |

Huh?
There is nothing special about this video. Just a bunch of simple effects and some cool kids holding their oxygen tank (mobile phone) cameras in the air. I suppose you all think the digital garbage now littering the original Star Wars trilogy is great too? The Ford add with the German Shepherd soundly beats it. No contest. |

Very clever advertisment, for me it is up there with the Ferrari/Shell ad.
It isn't tasteless, it is interesting. It doesn't matter how the ad is shot or what it contains, it is all about getting people talking about it, associating the brand with the video. Remember the Accord Euro ad years ago with all the parts of car...with the slogan it's nice when thing just work (something like that)? That went all over the net, won awards and people knew it was the Honda ad. It doesn't matter how good or bad the car is, it is grabbing the attention of the public and getting them into the show rooms to have a look at the car.

it's the drivers Abseiling line, probably not to keen on unhitching himself before getting in the car and winding up splattered on the deck..... Cool ad.......

thats a great ad. that kind of ad sells cars. not german shephard ads marketted to bogans, ford doesnt realise boagans are only a small proportion of the population, and that the rest of the population hates bogans. they need to get a better promotion team in to sell their cars to the masses or they will keep getting less and less sales. They should be reading through fordforums.com.au forums and realising that people dont think of korean cars anymore the same way they did 10-15 years ago, as Korean cars now are built in equal quality to Japanese and Australian cars with great styling and price and warrenty. korean cars sales have hurt ford badly in this country, and they have no defense for it because they have no intelligence in what the masses want, only what the bogans want.

I love the Steve McQueen ad, that's awesome. And the current Allan Moffat ad is pretty cool too, but they both appeal to enthusiasts. They don't appeal to the general audience.
But thats comparing apples and oranges. To compare apples and apples, both the Ford Fiesta and Holden Cruze ads ain't got **** on that Hyundai ad. |

Dont comment until you know what I'm talking about. The German Shepherd add isn't at all marketed towards "bogans." The target of that add if anything would be upper class females. And you really like to use that word 'bogan' a lot dont you. It's as offensive as any other slur. Since you use it so freely I can only assume you wont object if I throw in a few slurs myself? You are as bigoted as the people you seek to slander, so called 'bogans.' |

But this isn't an ad... this is a public car unveil. This is an event that gets people talking. It's not just a TV Ad. It's about big branding the new car you are lunching when introducing it to the market.
The thing is, if it were done in Australia it would be on every news channel, paper and all over the net. |
