Default What's the traffic like going to the gold coast from Brisbane?

What's the best time of day to go there and to come home?

I reckon that around 8am and 4pm would be the best time to go. The you could avoid the trolls, as they would be less likely to single you out.

If you go at about 9am on Saturday morning, you'll get a chance to admire the scenery. You can see the other side if you return at about 4pm Sunday afternoon.

And here I was thinking that the traffic would consist of cars, trucks, buses, bikes etc and not numbers.

Seriously though think about it, it will be busiest at the same times (peak morning and arvo) as anywhere else in the country.

Who gets singled out at a crawl :-) Still can't fathom why people move to the south east of Queensland. There's no time to enjoy the weather whilst you're sitting in a traffic jam.

It's just like a fishing yarn..should have been here last week ( mid 60s as a kid for me ). I'm lucky that my office is 10 minutes from home on the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. Infrastrucure in SEQ has been overwhelmed in the last 15 years or so. The corridor north of Brisbane is now the developers' play ground, and no sooner do the 3 lanes go in, than the suburbs mushroom. Great town planning all round ay..

Tell you what, how about you drive it without any advice and you let us all know how you go.

Or better yet, don't.

compared to somewhere like... sydney.. which would take twice as long to cover the same distance within 50km of the city? and cost you 10 bucks in tolls.... hehe

Come on seriuously guys, this could be genuine question.

During the week, I often travel to the coast for work. So going from Brisbane to Gold Coast, anytime after 9am is sweet as the traffic is all INBOUND and you are going outbound. Coming back, leave the coast at around 5.30pm, and you should only get some slight congestion around the city.

Weekends, should be ok at all times, like kremmen said, it's 4 lanes most of the way.

Who cares what we think, you'll just go when you want. Just remember to go the long way to miss the tolls :

You betchya!!

I'm in Upper Coomera and love it. Moved here from Canberra a few months ago. As far as traffic is concerned I haven't had any real issues, but then again I spend 55 minutes each way to/from work on the train.
