Default Hunting for a new key for a 2011 Fiesta

Hi guys,

As the title say im hunting for a new key as when i bought our 18month old fiesta the previous owner misplaced/lost the key thus i'm now down a key.
I spoke to Ford and for a basic key with out a bopper/transponder they wanted $134 programed to our fiesta....so im hunting for a cheaper option.

My hunt has led me here... http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/170916119...84.m1436.l2649

do you think this will work? is there anything special with a key directly from ford?

ta
Andy

I bought a key off ebay for the Fiesta. It had to be cut and programmed.
I think this : http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/flip-remo...9df9f33&_uhb=1
Is more of a match for our cars.
The link you gave only mentions Fiesta to 2008.
My local locksmith had no problem programming my key as he had the original, so as long as you have that you should be fine.

P.S. the link above is not from the seller I got mine off.

I got this key and now works a treat...

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Ford-Fies...item3f262b2daa

Additional expenses are;
Need to get the key cut = $25
Ford and only ford can program the key to start the car = $66 and 1hr
Program the remote to open/close doors = Free in your manual.

total = $141 vs $275+ from ford

My locksmith programmed the transponder for the additional key I bought.
But only because he had our original key. So it's not a ford only option if you have the original.

i had the original key and no one could hack/log into or program the ford key/ecu to get it to work on my 2011 WT....i had quite a few people who "knew" what to do fail. (lock smiths, mechanics with you beaut ecu readers and supposed replacement key providers alike...so strange)

the remote would lock and unlock the car, the cut key would start the fuel pump give me acc but not disable the immobilizer allowing the car to start.

My locksmith took 10 minutes to cut and code the key.
Mind you they did say at first they would have to have a look if it was possible, so they may have had problems with other transponders in the past.
But they knew within seconds that it was possible.

who was your lock smith? so others may go to them with the hassle of going to the ford stealership.
