Hey guys and girls, I have a close to stocko AU1. Currently brewing up some options as to what to do with it, one of the things I've been looking at is a megasquirt but can't find a great deal of info on them. Are there any Au owners about that run one?

dude , the megasquirt would seriously only take your money and only give you the the itch and not the Scratch ,
Save the Other $AU6000 and get yourself a megaVORTECH Blower System from CAPA , the only squirt then will be the yellow stuff dribbling down your leg because you wont know the AU your In ! If your In it for the Cheap , Tune it and then if you havent got it , get Tickford Snorkle and/or a K&N filter , All Depends on your wallet ! www.capa.com.au Cheers Daniel

Seriously though, the Megasquirt is a very impressive bit of gear for the $$$ (despite SR_AU's comments), but if you haven't been able to find much info and have to ask questions then forget about it. Edit is great.

xr8ute, how would a standard ecu go with the likes of fourced induction? At the moment I'm doing my homework on turboing my car, cost of kits, engine work required (for serious boost) and from what I understand an ECU upgrade would be a good option. Have heard alot of good things about the MS but not from any 4.0l falcons, just looking for some feedback on them.

I say go for it. And once you've done it successfully, you will be able to tell the rest of how to do it too!

I have some experiance with megasquirts, as my father uses the megasquirt2 software on his own design ECU computers on his car, and quite a few race cars.
Take it from me, on a car that already has an advanced ecu such as the EA - BF's there is no real gain on changing the ECU completely, especially when aftermarket support is getting stronger by the day. You will have to bypass smartlock, the body module, figure out a way to control your trans (if its auto) We recently did my brothers XF (which was EFi to begin with) and that was a huge job, as the entire engine loom and under dash loom had the be re-done. Just get the edit.... or more importantly, get mods first, to justify having an edit in the first place.

As for the price, I think the edit is better value for money personally. Also doesnt have the EPA unfriendly issue of an aftermarket system, the unknown "do it yourself" tunes and the edit can do some pretty neat tricks to your auto if you run one. Up to you but, overall, I think even a unichip would be a better overall option and probably a similar price.

yeah, as I said just throwing ideas around at this stage. I spose biggset discision to make is to stay n/a or turbo. I've got a set of egg beaters going to a 2.5" exhaust, crappy ad on body kit and scuffed 17" tsw's. first things first, dropping it next week

Bang for buck - MS2 is WAY better then EDIT.
considering cost, MS2 wins.... EDIT has its advantages, but not $1000 worth of advantage. but only if u can DIY.

Depends on what you can do yourself. If you want to dabble in electronics, solder up the whole thing, and install it 100% yourself, MS2 will work very well (as well as an EMS8860/wolf etc).
If you're not into doing every last thing on your car yourself get the edit. Edit, good value for $1600. No. If for $1600 you got a custom tune AND the FULL editing software it would be good value.
