Hi Guys,

I Have just blown the spider gears in my diff center.

Im now due for a replacement center what ratio do you guy suggest will
Work best in an near stock ef I6 auto.

I think the current ratio is 3.08 atm i want improved acceleration but not sure about the extra revs at highway speed.

Who in the eastern suburbs do u guys suggest is the most repubale diff builder and how much would a Lsd center cost fitted.

Cheers
Mark.

Cheapest would probably be to buy a 3.45lsd from an xr6 or fairmont ghia, but then you run into speedo recalibration nightmares unless you run an xr6 or fairmont ghia computer. Mini spools are only $90 SOMETHING BUCKS. Good luck, but you'll eat up about a grand for a tenth of a second, I've done it (4.11's) and I doubt its worth the trouble.

an xr/ghia diff would probably be your best bet... you will need to get the speedo transducer from the gearbox for the correct speed reading in your car... you dont need the computer.

i have had 3.9's and now have 4.11's... heaps of fun off the line!!!

ohh, and i wouldnt touch a spool... not for normal road use anyway. you will eat the rear trailing arm bushes in no time.

plus you will be in the ИИИИ if your busted... for the track, definitely go for a spool though... what i plan to have for powercruise...

Yeah, My 4.11's were from a Skyline. It can be a pain to get the auto to work with the low diff gears as it wants to change at the old speeds, which means it can hit the rev limiter, before shifting unless other mods are done (big pain in butt). Easier to use 3.45's, and the matching computer.

But that's only if you replace the speedo calibration gear. If you keep your standard one, your speedo will be out but the auto will shift perfectly.

Jaycar supplies a circuit which changes the signal going to the speedo, so the km/h reading can be adjusted, but the auto and other ecu goodies don't get affected.

I have one, but am yet to fit it. I'm a lazy mutant.

I was told that the frequency of the speed signal is altered through the dash, so you cannot run the speed signal direct to the computer, without going through the dash, which gets altered when you recalibrate, unless the jaycar has two adjustable outputs, I cant see how it works.

get 3.9's if ur gonna go high ratio as 4.11's is a little too high and the 3.9 gear is alot stronger and more resistant to constant abuse

http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthr...do+calibration

Suits various ratios. For example, my 3.27-->4.11 conversion means my speedo is 25% out. I toggle the signal to the speedo so it reads 25% different to the true signal, and it corrects the speedo. But that's an oversimplification (but basically describes how it works)
