Hi Everyone,
Hoping someone can provide some information about the pedal box in EF XR8's. : My brother bought my EF XR8 and was having some problems with the clutch. When we had the car inspected the mechanic said there was a lot of flex in the firewall. Given we knew about the problems with the clutch cable in the firewall we mentioned if he knew about a bracket which could be installed to fix this problem. My brother booked the car in to have the bracket installed and the mechanic has just called to say that pedal box has broken and the clutch is actually loose from the rest of the pedals. : Does this make sense to anyone and sound possible? I would have thought that it would have to have been abused severely for something like this happen? Your thoughts are appreciated, thanks

Yes it happens, the pivot point breaks, but most e-series also suffer from firewall flex so get the plate put in at the same time.

its quite common for a car over 150 000 kays.. The spigot the cutch pedal sits on is only welded to the mild steel pedal box..ALot of weight and force can simply crack and pull the welded spigot away from the rest of the pressed steel.. You need to get it out and brace and plate it up properly.. I think NZ has some decent pics of how he did it
