Yeha alarm was fun to install, we pulled half the car apart for the temp sensor!!
Not sure what the issue is, checked the fuses and they're fine, I think we might have loosened a wire in the harness of the GEM (General Electrics Module). Might have to re-check.

The focus alarm where did you get that? And does it work off the standard lock button on your key or does it have a separate remote?
Im looking into an alarm myself, but I would like it to funtion from the ford ignition key if possible... |

Hard to install? Or is all the wiring harness there ready to go?

heys,
LR sedan, Its a easy job to install. they supply these little clips that tap into the wires that are there. It has a Full comprehensive guide to do it. Everything you need is already there. It also seems to have disabled the dash sounds, the indicators dont work, nor does the Trip computer sounds. so im looking into it. it may be the Gem Module as Matt said. If i cant figure it out then ill take it to ford and say that its not working hehe and see what they say.

Cool.
Did you buy the unit from ford, or online somewhere? I may wait till you find out whats going on, till I go and buy it. I hope its something very simple to fix. I know how frustrated you must be at this point, at least I would be. |

It's not my unit. I didn't buy any of it. Something you would have to take up with photn the owner of the alarm

I bought it from ford. Not expensive at all to tell you the truth. Not really Frustrated about it, it just catches me off guard when you dont hear anything ticking. Im sure its just something simple.

I hope it all works out for you. I'll probably go to ford and pick one up myself, I need to get a few other things like the ST snorkel. |

Yeah it's a very easy install and doesn't take long, integrates perfectly and really is a great feature to have. We nailed the alarm, it works 100%. Just strange that now the rest of it doesn't!!
Come to think of it Sean, when we connected the battery after completing it, I heard the indicators flash from the inside... so it seems to have happened after the install... weird. Keep me posted dude!

Just to clarify, it's the Genuine Ford Basic Alarm that gives panic feature, lock and unlock alerts, horn on unlock and horn when the vehicle is forced open. Great feature given it is only about $200 from Ford from memory at Retail price, I think. You can install yourself very easily, I was most impressed with the instructions included.
Steve - can you possibly do a quick search of ffoc.co.uk to see if the problem has arisen before? Paid members only and I refuse to pay...

Did you need to tap into the interior lights line for the alarm?
On another though is during the installation, with the interior lights going the whole time due to the doors open, perhaps a piece of wiring was burnt out, especially with the extra load from the footwell lights?

hey chris,
Nah we didnt need to tap into any interior lights for any of it. And we disconnected the battery when installing it. The issues so far are: No indicator sounds Front Wipers Dont work (rear does) Interior lighting doesnt work. (trip computer sounds work now)

Usually you tap into the interior lights for the door breach function in the alarm.
The door opens, light comes on, sends signal to alarm box. Maybe there is a short somewhere... |

hey guys. havent had the time to check. been getting home just as dark has set in.
I noticed that 2 out of the 4 wiper functions work. Fast and Super Fast work. But the slow and whasher wipe dont. Also the dash boot release doesnt work either. Matt.. remember we disconnected the battery. There was no power at all.

Body Electronics Module aka BCM (Body Control)...
Going by all the problems listed I think they are the common thing they point to.

All fixed guys.. well sorta....
had a fiddle with the GEM units wires.. seems some wires are loose of the plug isnt in there properly... i pushed them in and fiddled with the wires. Everything works fine now. Will get ford to fix it properly when she goes in for a service... everything works, boot release, indicator noises, wipers and variable speed, interior lights and foot well lighting. Thanks guys.
