I am thinking of buying Capri, one of the convertible ones, and was looking for some advise on the things to look for in any per purchase inspection. Cheers, |

I'm old school Capri's however I've always been advised by knowledgable Convertible owners only to look at the 1991 models onwards. There were too many little things wrong with the original SA and SB (update) models. Go for the SC or SE models. Contact the local Capri Club for more info.

She likes 'small' cars. My XR8 AUIII is to big. Im thinking 88, 89 and put it on historic plates

I would love to work on a 75, 76 (back when I was 18) but they are hard to find. The late 80s seem a good cost point and something different to play with.

I actually have 3 92 SC CLUBSPRINTS. On e is boosted, lowered and stiffened suspension and they are a blast to drive. Well rust proofed, hard to kill engine and awesome with the top down

All i can suggest is to take your time and not jump at the first one. I had to wait 18mth for the car we wanted. (FG in sig)

boot is twice as large, has four seats (even if 2 are kid-size or occasional only), slightly bigger outside and inside. Yes, the Capri conv. is front wheel drive.
The MX5 is rear wheel drive and feels tiny, and very chuckable. But weekends away are a challenge luggage-wise. And I have driven both, each some hundreds of kms on highways and back roads. But both of these are nothing compared to my Stag. (Okay, I'm now waiting for the disparaging comments .... but have you been in a Stag with the roof down?) |
