I was filling up tonight, Diesel thank God, and damn near had a coronary. Thought my eyesight was playing up.
I screen-shotted this: And it wasn't just the 98, regular ULP was still only 20c less. But still get 4 cents off at Woolies LPi Territory is looking good. |

Think that's a WA only site. Run by the WA government. As Fuel Check is for NSW. Unfortunately, Vic doesn't have a similar government run site.

it is what it is, rip off always has been, do people actually drive out of their way because an app shows you a cheaper pump.
All to its own I guess.

I use Mobil app fuel lock. You can be out in whoop whoop, see it cheap, might not need to fill up right then, but you can lock the price in for a week, then fill up when you back in the suburbs.
The fuel price checkers are useful as you can pick which one you use if you happen to be heading out that way. You can score as much as 40c / litre difference in some cases. I go through 1-2 tanks a week so its a big saving when you get it right.

I've been eyeing off Ecoboost Falcons but given how ridiculous unleaded prices are how they randomly jump 40c/L all the time out of the blue I think I'll stick with diesel.
Been paying $1.33/L for diesel while 98 is sitting around $1.93/L here locally. Adds up really quickly given the amount of driving I do |

Just remember, past fuel prices at the bowsers have proved that the cheapest thing you put into you vehicle is fuel.
After all if fuel costs double................... so does the price of lettuce.

I do in Canberra, my record is saving $46 by filling up at costco compared to a station 3km away. Here in Canberra, Costco is generally 30 cents cheaper than other fuel stations. Funny though, Canberra used to be about 20 cents dearer per litre than Sydney, last two years our prices have come right down, no idea why.

It pays to shop around and use the comparison apps.
It also pays to fill up when it's cheap, not when you are running on fumes. Diesel in Sydney at the independents hovering at around $1.35, drops several cents if you buy out of peak hours. I still am shocked at the fact that 2 stations within a few hundred metres of each other can vary by some 20cpl for essentially selling the exact same product. Last several cars have all been diesel. So glad. A costly full tank for me is $65 and it gets me around 800km around town or 900+km on the freeway.

yes ok fellas, I see your points.
As for my usage the T3 only runs on 98 period due to tune etc and minimal use, Sprint 95/98 depending how I feel and type of run its going on, just above minimal use And the daily BM 95 min. Its 2.0lT only drinks heavy when driving it hard but even prior to higher bowser pricing I'm not that fussed of my fuel running costs compared to others. Also I only use Caltex/BP. So yes I've looked at this only through my eyes sorry.

FWIW, costs $1.10 per 100kms for my car now vs $30 per 100kms in the Mach 1. You'd be mad to be daily driving an ICE IF (and its a really big IF) you can afford the initial outlay.

Fuelwatch is WA only. Servos have to set fixed prices by 2pm so by 3pm you can usually see tomorrows prices and decide if you're going to fill up that day on the way home, or tomorrow on the way out.
Because the prices are fixed for the day and because WA runs on a set cycle (cheap tues) we can check the price on mon arvo, see how much it's going to drop on tue, if and by how much it's going to go up on wed and know that wed/thurs is the most expensive day. E: United stay cheap on wed for some reason but BP and others go to their highest prices for some other unknown reason. Then it goes down gradually every day to hit the lowest on mon/tues again, unless oil prices or some overseas or refinery drama set prices off unexpectedly. EG on tues 91 was 1.25 Sometimes there's the odd suprise, but if you check at 3pm on the day before you can be prepared for it (might be a good suprise, like a cheap saturday, might be a bad suprise). But servos can't change the price in the middle of the day, they have to report to fuelwatch the day before by 2pm, and can only change the price at 6am. Good and fairer system. Feels like there is no control here in Vic.
In some asian countries the gov sets the price, and its locked in for a month.

No law can dictate how much profit one makes, especially in a market that has peaks and troughs. Much like the travel and hotel industry. You pay based on what they think they can get, not what is fair and reasonable. That will never change. The only way to try and control how much you pay for fuel is to shop around and use any price cycle to your advantage. Or change your vehicle, or use it less.
