Try going to a Test n Tune first, that will get you started and you can meet and talk to other racers there.

Street Meets are also a good place to start most test n tune you will require a ANDRA license visit their website for more info.

You will require a helmet make sure its not a cheap ebay one most of the time those are fakes and they will not let you race.

Check the willowbank site or andra site for the correct helmet info.

600mm bottle coke or water and some zip ties works well for a coolant catch can if required.

Rear tyres 24 to 26 psi should get you off the line on full stall. 55 to 60 psi front tyres.

Remove loose stuff from the cab and boot.

1/4 tank of fuel or 100km odd to go try 98 octane and the correct mix of Nulon pro octance booster

If you going to compete in the street series might be worth while buying a second set of wheels and tyres or at least 2 for the rears. I using 225 50 16 rears no wheel spin full stall. ATR Achilles Sports. Fronts 205 50 16 Nexen doesnt matter would be better to be skinner again.

Remove spare wheel & Jack.

Tyre gauge
Pack wheel brace
Torch
Breaker bar maybe handy for wheel nuts
Basic tools
Water
Spare pulley belt
Spare wheel nuts
$30 Jack from Repco much quicker then the standard jack

Best to wipe off the numbers they write on you windscreens with dry paper towel then wash off what remains.

Record all your times and what you did, include weather details such as temp and humidity etc.

Have fun enjoy you will improve with practice.
