Default el gt body kit

Who knows where I can get hold of one? Apparently ford dont sell it but I would love to know if you could put this kit on a xh xr6 or at least put on the front part of the kit. Are there any after market molds of this kit available? Im currently looking to buy a xh xr6 and would really love to give it the el gt look

Thank you please come again :

about the only bit that was available from Ford was the front grille, and 12 months ago it was $400 and getting hard to find, so i dont like your chances now.

Virtually nobody does an aftermarket kit, mianly due to the fact that once they were done with it, Ford bundled away the original moulds and to this day nobody knows where they are!

You are facing an uphill battle, because even if find a kit,NONE of it will fit straight on the ute,as they used the fairmont bonnet.

could you just use an ef/el bonnet?

Im liking the idea of a XH with a GT front, it would be hot!

Youd need new front bar, headlights, bonnet and quarter panels.

The xh bonnet is nothing like an ef/l bonnet. They blend the xd body onto the ef bar.

The only way would be to modify the xh bonnet to suit, how hard it would be I don't know.

Maybe try southside ford in qld. I know they were modifying l falcons back in the day and used a GT style front bumber. They also had a ute version.

Except the bumper and headlights. They were the same as the sedans. The bonnet and front guards were unique to the utes

True. But the bonnet is still the real problem. If it wasn't for the bonnet, it wouldn't be a hard job to fit the Fairmont front onto the XH. The headlights and bumper would still fit on the same mounts.

This is right,it cauld be done, but it would require surgery to the bonnet by someone good with metal.
Not for the faint hearted.

I think you can buy a copy of the bottom of a gt bar on ebay from time to time,it fit's onto the the standard bar.The grille and headlights still pose the problem.

No bodykit place have got them or makes them! Mate was trying to find some for his EL but no one even has the mould either. Best Bet is E-bay!

Good Luck

Beware of the fake GT kit. its sort of a cross between tickford and gt rear bar, tickford skirts and an odd looking front bar.

Try $1400, and no one makes an aftermarket kit, Ford have the copyright, the place that made the kits originally was sold and the original owner of the business dissappeared with the moulds.

The whole reason you can't buy them is for this exact reason so thaere are no fake GT's running the streets, which is good and bad for original GT owners like myself.

I am always on the lookout for body parts to have on the shelf as spares because if anyone ever hit me, it would be a write off as the parts just are not available.

Your best bet is to make a mould from you original kit on your GT now and make a copy. Once you have the mould keep it stored away along with the original bar/kit on the car now and just have the fibreglass bodykit on the car so if anything happen you'll be on the safe side!

ok these pics are huge, but this was a GLi, and is in the EF/EL section in show n shine.

Rear bar is right, xr skirts and an SVO front bar with GT grill, looks good to me.

That on a ute would be hot.

Rear bar is semi right, it has mouldings to suit XR side skirts.
Front bar isnt SVO, its a "GT" copy as they called it.
don't think it really has a brand.
GT styled grill as its to suit the GLi bonnet.

That will do it for me polyal. All I really need is the gt front grill. I think the svo front bar looks close enough. Cheers for that
