Default They want our car in a movie!!!!!!!

Hi Everyone
A guy called at our home today looking for cars to be in an upcoming movie some of which will be filmed in Dubbo. The guy seemed genuine and answered all of our questions easily. He had a business card which had the head office number at Fox Studios. We rang and all seemed above board and a check of the NSW Film and Television Office website showed the movie listed on the upcoming productions with correct shooting dates and production company.
Has anybody had any experience with something like this? What to look for/check? Could this be a scam?

How did they come across your car?
Make sure a solicitor checks out all the paper work correctly.
What's the Movie?

Told about it by locals (its a small town!), had already looked at a XR6 down the road but thought it "too plain" and ours is a little bit different to stock standard. Think working title is "Prime Mover", its about a truck driver and our baby is to play the lead's car. Appropriate considering hubbys job.

i'd be concerned if someone rocked up on my doorstep and asked if they could use my car in a movie....
usually they buy them themselves to use for a movie...

sounds very suspicious

The guy we spoke to called it a "small movie" and the car would only be used for a few drive in - drive out scenes. He was originally looking for an XY GT but now realises that the GTs are worth more than the average truckie could afford so they started looking for more recent local cars. Would probably cost them less than a grand rather than the 20 thou or so to buy one.
LUXO_8 and b2tf - If it is suss how can I find out? If he is looking to steal the car he wouldn't have any more information from talking to us than he could have got just by driving past.

As long as you are with the car at all time I dont see the issue, you can register you car with various agencies if you want to make it available for films, adds etc and get paid for it

Yeah this type of thing is quite common in Tight budget type moves I know a few people in the Film industry and when working to a tight budget anything that can be got for free or on the Cheep they will use, One of my friends is letting some film student's use a few locations on there farm and even build a few Structures for no cost.

I once hadx contact details for an agency that deals in vehicles for movies that kept records of peoples cars in the same way a talent agency does. So I beleive it is quite common for this to happen.

Hey mate I got a general email sent to the office I work asking for people to be extras in this movie.

Send me your email and I will send you a copy of the email.

I saw your car in Gil a few weeks ago.

I would look for a buy me a new one clause if they damage it. I have had one of my vehicles used in TV and newspaper advertising but it was stationary and they never drove it.
