Default Newbie!!!!

Well it finally happened, i've just bought my old man's 98 fairmont.. i've only been waiting.. a thousand years!!! so first order of business is putting in my old stereo.. so i have a lazy question... the fairmont has the 6 stacker and the 8 speakers... are the speakers in the front door 6 inch?? and how big are the ones on the dash.. i'm just too lazy to check. sleep:

Oh, and the best thing about this car.. is it's black. I've NEVER seen another black fairmont.. or even EF or EL falcon.. when we bought it, ford said they don't do black cars so we told them we'll buy a holden.. so they put our car through and classified it as a herse.. how funny!!

Has anyone seen a black one before? or own one? i'm just curious!

only factory black EF/EL's i've seen are NL Fairlanes, i don't think it was available on anything else, interesting story as to how you got it on yours.
Be one of a kind i'd guess

6" speakers in the front, tweeters under the plastic trim near the window.

Yeah i've always kept an eye out for other black ones.. but haven't seen any to date (to my delight). Next step after the stereo is getting it lowered, extractors, induction kit... my mate is a mechanic so everything will be cost price!! Bit of an up grade from my XF!!

I didn't think it was an option, however being a late EL, it could be AU Black?

Good to see another E-series in black.

Yeah it's silhouette black which is the AU, i guess when we told ford that the berlina looked good in black they caved! it used to be a TXU fleet car, and on the job card, ford put it through as TXU funeral services. We've got a black AUII fairmont ghia which is also awesome.... pitty i couldn't buy that one.

Hell yeah mate, black looks wicked! What month '98 is it? That'll tell you whether it has a 96DA (AU) head or not.
