Hey all just got my baby back (BA XR8 ute) from a panel shop, and noticed upon pickup the pint has rounded areas where the pint through the clear looks flat compared with the rest of the panel. Mentioned it and panel shop says it may be bleeding/leeching, as it cures? He says bring it back in 2 weeks for a polish and all will be good. Is he being honest or trying to get rid of me. Its an insurance claim so i will have heavy handed backing if all else fails just want to know more about the facts... Cheers to all
Please facts only in response lets avoid 'sounds about right/wrong etc.. |

Not sure what you mean in your description... are you talking about "orange peel" effect?

Hard to see, sure it's not sinkback. The fresh paint and thinners affects a repair below

et you insurance assessor to have a look at it, a lot of them are from the smash repair industry and able to give a good assessment. Remember the insurance company will be on your side because they want you happy so you renew.

looks like sink back to me,but hard to tell with flash on camera, could also be from sanding it different than original making the mettallic sit wrong before clear was applied

Looks like the clear has been wet sanded to far and gone down to the colour layer. Either way look at the swirls in the finish. I would take it back just for the.

Assessment booked for the 4th oct, been over the car (shouldnt have looked), pretty much every panel has affected areas.
Checked the repair report and have been charged for repairs not completed etc such as : Front Driver seatlbelt replaced $223 IT HASNT BEEN TOUCHED, though it should have been. 2 FULL DETAILS @ $250 ea, got car back pretty dirty... Didnt really care as i was told by panel shop, insurance had cancelled the detail. LET THE GAMES BEGIN Insurance company have been brilliant so far and seem VERY keen to see the ute, and the FULL repair list... |
